Default Question for . Capt. KUJO

I have seen your posts and pictures of the fun you have out on the big pond . I have also been in the market for a dry suit.
What are you using and how do you like them? How much were they? Thanks in advance. id. painter

ID Painter,
Go to the USIA website. It is Capt. Kujo's company, and they make their own suits. They are awesome, by the way. If you are going out in the big pond, or running any big cold water, get one.

Id. Painter,

Drove up to the Portland GI Joes for Capt. Kujos cold water survival class in December. In addition to being quite informative (lots of good tech. handouts)the class concluded with students donning one of his suits and jumping in the Columbia river. My impression was that the suit was both warm and comfortable. Also, it fit in such a way (baggy/roomy) that it does'nt restrict movement and I believe can be worn comfortably for several hours. I'll let you/him discuss construction, but I did order one there through GI joes......Mike

I recieved an email by someone who wore one of these suits for about 10 hrs. and had nothing but good things to say about the product. I will get one or two before spring. Thanks you all. id .p.

You'll need exotherms to go along with the suit. One thing for sure, you will not be cold. The day I was out on the Rocket for BFB the weather was showers and maybe 45 deg. air temp. I was very toasty.

It does take some effort to put on because of the seal around the neck and the suits have a zipper in the back or front. You'll need a neck ring also to add comfort until you get used to the neck seal. It's like wearing a tie, only 100x tighter. I'm thinking about getting one.

thanks Capt. K. I didnt realize how sensitive I am to a chill. The Hoffmans syndrome makes my muscles lock up . The other day I was looking for something and ran to the truck for about 60 seconds without a coat. By the time I got back into the house I couldnt get my breath. My torso had tightened up so bad that I couldnt get air into my lungs . I couldnt expand my diafram.Couldnt walk or get my breath. So ,,, the importance of a dry suit has become very clear ... I can not fall into the water without suvere shock and it will probably kill me even with a P.F.D. on. I will have a dry suit by springer season. Thanks again
