Default Last Duck Of The Day (Pics)

Last Duck of the Day - First Band of My Life

Well I already posted the story in another thread but oh well ill post it again... Went out for a hunt with my cousin and good friend this weekend. Hunting was pretty slow to start but when the wind picked up the birds started working. I chose to set the gun down for a day and take some pictures. We were down to two ducks for a limit, and i decided I needed to get a bird and of course it took forever to get that last group to come in. Well finally a group of a dozen mallards started working us and on the last pass me and my buddy shot and dropped one each. We walked to pick them up in the trees behind us. When i walked up to my drake my heart raced when i saw it lying belly up with a hint of silver. I set a goal to shoot a band this year, limiting myself to shoot only mallards on many hunts, it seemed like every hunt i couldn't make someone, shot a band (including one reward band) and it was a little frustrating to feel like a was wearing metal repellant. It was probably my best feeling during a duck hunt yet so i decided to get a mount instead of throwing it on the lanyard and will start looking around for the right taxi. Thanks for a memorable hunt guys.

A little behind...

nice work guys looks like a sweet hunt. Cory picked up a band back in december that i think was banded that same day in alberta also. What were the numbers on that guy? We could barely make out one of the numbers but figured it out to be an 8 on the beginning of the suffix digits.

I agree also, a unique shot. It could only mean that the photographer had finished his limit and was taking pictures, waiting for his "slacker" hunting partners to finally completed theirs.
