Goose Permit Waiting Game
So, I took the NW Goose Permit Test today. I kept putting it off because I didn't think I could learn it without some help. Well, I was sort of right. I printed out the 456 page manual, and that was not helpful. Then, my hunting partner says, hey all you need to know and learn is on YouTube (imagine how skeptical I was at that). But, it turns out that ODFW and WADFW do make fiscally responsible decisions once and a while. Since YouTube is a free hosting site, it is all right there, all the time.
I spent an hour or so reviewing the booklet and the videos, and then took the test. I feel pretty good about 95% of the questions, and since one only needs 80% to pass, I have a feeling I will get my confirmation letter in a day or two in the mail. Maybe, it will come in time for that Sunday hunt my buddy wants to go on to close out the season?
For anyone out there who has put this test off for fear of failure, don't. It is valuable information, and it is right at your finger tips. Good luck, and watch out for the duskys.

I hope you're not thinking about hunting Oregon's permit zone this weekend. If you are , you should take a look at the regs first.

If you had some input, what would you change about the goose ID book to make it more helpful? It would be be greatl to know what others would like to see. Thanks
Kelly Warren

He mentioned WDFW and sunday being the closeout. I'm guessing he is planning to hunt Washington this sunday.
Not so sure he will get his card that quickly though.

the book you made rocks. The oregon test is a JOKE. Some of the questions on there have nothing to do with goose hunting or properly identifying geese. What does the word "depredation" mean is a question on there. seriously?
I know i passed mine and i still haven't gottne anything in the mail and i took it on january 1st. The first time i took it i failed and i got a letter within a week.

My dad took his and waited a long time. We went in over a month later and asked about it at sportsmans and she said that he had passed it and she printed it up for him. So you might have passed it and you just need to go in and get it...

Thanks for the kind words on the guide!!
I was thinking perhaps an all picture test might be a good idea. With some multiple choice. Might make it a little more helpful and reasonable to some??

Re: Goose Permit Waiting Game
I bought the video and read the Washington book. It was helpfull because the pictures on the test were the exact pictures in the book. I havent seen any of the new material.
I would say it was about standard for a government test and materials. After 4 years in the Marines I'm quite familiar with govenment tests and materials.
Its not about "the correct answer", its about "what answer they want".

I'm gonna hit up bi-mart tomorrow and try that. I thought about that but thought odfw was supposed to send you your actual goose card.
I know i passed. Kelly's guide had some verbage in it that was straight off the test. I triple checked my answers.
