Default First 2009 GP report

Not much to report. Wife and I launched at noon yesterday and were out about three hours due to a tight schedule. Marked a lot of fish but the entire lake was very murky from the high river runoffs. Only had one bite on a green wedding ring behind a green flash lite. I had accidently tripped the release and thought I would just let it come to the top on its own accord. About half way up I got a hit but did not hook up.

This was along the south side of the island. Also tried the arm across from the island with not success. Wedding rings, apex firetiger and jigging. Marked lots of fish 30-40. Surface temp was 44 but like I said it was very murky, so much that I could not see the prop on the tolling motor. Saw only one other boat out and one headed out when we came in.

Had the wife run the boat onto the trailer for the first time. She did great, no dents in the boat, trailer or pickup, really nervous, but did a good job.

I had tried to go Jan.2 with a die-hard kokanee fishing friend from California. Got just past mile marker 7 on Quartzville Rd on the way to Thistle when we encountered many trees laying across the road from the high winds that had gone through the night before. Nice to know we can get back out there.

Thanks for reporting. Hopefully GP will be a big producer again this year. Please don't get lazy on scheduled fishing days and try to sleep in. You might just wake up and find the boat and pickup missing from the driveway. Just make sure that the bed is made and the dishes are washed before your wife gets back home!
