Default Pictures of 200 saltwater fish, and more

I just ran across a great Baja California, and Mexico web site. The site, www.bajadestinations.com, is the home page of Gene Kira. Gene Kira is the Editor of Western Outdoors and is the co-author of "The Baja Catch."

In the fish ID section there are over 200 species of saltwater fish, mostly from Baja. All are photos taken by fishermen and sent in to the web site. There are 427 photos of rare and common species found in Baja and Southern waters.
Check out the "Giant Squid" and the "Potfish," must have been using topwater to catch that one.....

Also a great weekly fishing report for several of Mexico's sportfishing ports.

Much more interesting info for the saltwater and Baja fisherman.

Check it out.

Jerry

Surprised they didn't have a Big Eye Tuna. Nice site.

Robin, the only problem with reading this site is, that it makes you want to go to Mexico, and go "FISHING."

Backlash, the fish ID section has been constructed completely by fishermen sending in photos to Mr. Kira. He tells the whole story in the January issue of "Western Outdoors Magazine," in the "Baja Backbeat" column. They just recently reached the 200 fish milestone.

He states that "Many of the photos have been submitted by first time-rookies, pangueros, kayak anglers, expatriate Gringos, fly-down pilots, guides, boat captains, and many dedicated Baja Catch-style anglers." Also he lists several species that they have no photos for.

So, now you have an excuse to go on one of those long range tuna trips......They need a Big Eye Tuna photo....!!

What a great resource that is! I enjoyed it so much that I went through all 200...including the birds, the Orcas and the circle fish! Thanks for the site, Dave
