Tuna Trolling Flies

Marty and I had been brainstorming about some different lures to get those tuna to bite when they are just "puddling" and feeding on very small (like 1 to 2 inch) baitfish.

So I tied these up on 4/0 stainless salmon hooks, as trolling lures:

The two on the right have silver bellies (mesh tube); the one at left has pink tube & a little Krystalflash.

Can anyone guess what the black fiber is from? (hint - it's not from any tackle / fly shop).

Does your dog have a bald spot now? I used to steal hair from my dog and he always seemed to know when I was coming to get some because he would disappear. Happy Holidays

He's busy making cedar plugs for everybody and we don't want him to get sidetracked. :grin:

Intresting idea.... I would think making a daisy chain of these large flies with a popper in front of them would work.
