Default Mustang key won't turn Help

A guy I work with is in the parking lot with a 01 mustang. The key will not turn in the ignition. I have had this problem in my truckk and had to give the steering wheel a jerk, and it was ok. That does not fix this one. Any clue??

The steering wheel would be my guess....is he stepping on the brake peddle?

Also try pulling the key out just a hair and then try to turn it.

Also try rocking the streering wheel back and forth why turning the key and stepping on the brake peddle.

Thanks but no movement yet. We should be able to solve this soon, we have gone into emergency shutdown of the plant and will focus all of the production staff on it soon! We have told engineering that OT may be expected of them and all maintenance personell!

My ford does the same dang thing

I think you have to resite a verbal command to it (not ifish freindly) then yank twist steering wheel and keep trying key.

Usually that is something where the steering wheel has locked. Trying turning the key back towards you when you start it and then pushing it forward. Usually takes a pretty good turn to get the wheel to unlock.

Well my wifes 01 Focus had the same problem 3 times and each time we had to get it towed in due to the ignition lock cylinder going bad, not sure if the 01 Stang shared the same part but I would google it. The focus problem is world wide and is talked about alot so maybe the Stang is too??

It's possible the key is worn just enough so it won't work.

Turn key over and try the other side's cut. turn key 180 and try other side. Friend had truck cut on one side and his car on the other side , I rented a uhaul one time and it had door cut on one side and ignition on the other.

1. Call shop to pick it up
2. Go fishing.
3. Pick up fixed car

Hmm does AAA or insurance cover the tow?

We have Daryl's lock here in Scappoose, he's a life saver.

My ford truck did this awhile back.May be worn out switch,if WD doesn't work, insert the key and look closely by the cylinder, you should see a very small hole where you can stick the end of a good sized paper clip in,I think most ford locks have this, and then remove the whole cylinder. You can then install a new switch or ***. start with a screwdriver . Good Luck......
