Re: hunting dogs
A little further drive but I would recommend Tim Shilleriff (sp?) out at Sauvie Island Kennels. He trains both retrievers and pointers.

Re: hunting dogs
Actually, try looking up Willamette Retrievers.
They used to be in St. Paul, in fact just ~3/4 mile out of town heading towards Newburg on the left hand side.
I'd have to look up his name, but he used to train/run in Retriever Field Trials & train gun dogs.
I don't have the info right here, but at home. I'll check later, but if you ask around St. Paul you might locate him.
That would be REAL convenient.

Re: hunting dogs
All I know is that back in the mid 1990s he had some pretty impressive dogs. I bought a pup that another fellow I'd heard about bred his dog with one of the Miller's dams.
I trained my Fem Black Lab up pretty good and hunted her for 9 seasons.
Lots of fellow hunters thought she was an awesome dog. I never trialed her (my work schedule and $$$ prevented that) but took her to some Waterfowl Hunting demonstrations and put her through her paces and some pro trainers there were suitably impressed enough to ask me if I had trained her myself?
All I can say is that if the Millers still had pups of the caliber of the one I bought from them, I wouldn't hesitate a heartbeat to buy another from them. They had one happy customer in me.

Re: hunting dogs
Possible Technical correction,,
Does the guy at Oakhaven run trials now? If not, and hes running hunt tests and his dogs technically dont win anything, they "pass " or "earn" titles.
Filed trials are competative and dogs win titles
You might also try Gunriver labs just north of Baskett slough, Renae and Archie Ivy. Dont have their number. But I believe they are in the phonebook.
