Default Ducks on Umatilla...

I'm looking at trying to get one good hunt in before the season ends. Haven't had a good one this year and with all the luck people have had on the upper columbia and the quantity of birds over there, I thought I might try heading over there for a day (a very long day).

I've never been there and I know the McCormack unit is by reservation only. What's the possibility of getting in on a standby during the weekdays?

Sounds like the only other place to hunt without a boat is the boardman unit and judging from the map there isn't that much land to look at there.

Can anyone give me a heads up on what I might expect? Please PM me if you don't want to post information on the open forum.

Thanks a lot!

Riley

Riley,
McCormack has a non reservation line. Make sure you get there no later than 1.5 hours before shoot time. You need to put your name on the list in order to get a blind. The guys start lining up pretty early.
We hunted there yesterday and did pretty well. It was foggy and no wind.
Good luck.
Jason
