Default Brass Vs. Flash

Got a question about metal in general...

For dodgers, spinner blades, and trolls etc.. the idea is that they are flashing and attracting right? wouldnt it seem that chrome/nickel flash brighter than brass/copper/gold ? I read a lot of posts were it seems that brass/copper/gold produced as the hot ticket....has anyone ever thought about this or am I really just crazy?

In shallow depths silver/chrome will reflect the sunlight on a clear day and create a great flash. At deeper depths and not so bright days the chrome/silver works as a mirror and reflects the colors around it, namely the water, becoming the same color as the water around it. All you are left with is the vibration, which may be enough.

The other colors, brass/gold, red, chartruese etc, remain visible at deeper depths.

This was posted by elktalker last year. Very informative about color and depth. Dlm I know you saw this one but its worth reposting.

Red is the 1st color to disappear as you go deeper. White and yellow remain clearly visible at 30 meters which equals 98 feet, and blue actually gains intensity at depth.

Kokanee fishing is brand new to me.I have been searching the old threads trying to gleem whatever I can but I still miss some of the topics..please foregive me if I ask stupid or redundant questions. I think kokanee fishing is about the coolest thing I have ever read about...now I just need to try it!

Don't worry about the questions Tulley, we all have and will continue to ask them. Everyone here will help you in any way we can, this is probably the most helpful and understanding board you will ever find.

My only advise at this point is to start slow as far as equipment/lures. It is very easy to spend a ton of $$ on the latest and greatest as you become more and more a kokehead. If you want I can send you an pm on what I consider the basics.

That would be great! I just bought a new koke rod real...and $100.00 in tackle so I can see how this his heading! I do have a boggs tacklemaker that I have been experimenting with making trolls and such...pretty fun way to kill some time in winter.

Tulley, if you are building your own kokanee gear hear is a pic of some of my best producing spinners from last year. I always build four of every spinner so if a favorite shows up for the day I have enough to go around and an extra.
Good luck fishing ,ET
