Re: "what coyote call seems to work"?
My cousin from Payette, ID uses a "foxpro" electrinic and has already done in about 15 yotes since Christmas. I use a mouth call of a jack rabbit. It's louder than a cottontail but not as loud as a fawn in distress.

Re: "what coyote call seems to work"?
I don't think it's the call so much as the technique....
I have good luck with fawn in distress mouth call.

The one that's around your neck when there is a coyote within earshot.
Which call it is doesn't matter as long as it sounds like someting getting ripped apart.

just do not over blow it. 15 seconds then shut up. if you have to make more noise, buy a crow or magpie call.

Re: "what coyote call seems to work"?
i do not have an electronic caller, but here is my opinion: pick one sound per call site, run it for 45 seconds, then turn it off and wait 10 minutes, run it for 20 seconds then turn it off. if nothing comes in 5 minutes move. i think most users of electronic calls train the coyotes with too much calling with too many sounds for too long.

Primos CatNip, Verminators Tweety and the Thumper. The CatNip is my favorite, Works on Foxes too!

Another vote for the Cat-Nip. Only used mine twice, blowing on it for about ten seconds each time, calling-in four coyotes combined (that I saw).

I use calls from a local custom call maker- http://www.tyspredatorcalls.com/
Great calls, and customer service.

That pretty much sums it up. For beginners I recommend buying a Circe Jackrabbit call. It's as good as anything out there for calling them in close. One of my favorite calls is the Crit'R Call PeeWee. It takes some practice to use but makes a great sound.
A mouth blown call gives you much more control when you're calling. When I use a mouth blown call I call then watch and then call again. Learning to lip squeak is a must.
I often use a FoxPro FX5. When I do I just leave it running. I use a variety of sounds but I like a variety of rabbit distress and I'm very fond of the Johnny Stewart Squealing Bird. It's highly effective.
Learning the sport with a mouth blown call will make you a far more effective predator hunter IMO.

I agree. Handcalls and e-callers are two very different techniques that require different strategies.
Calling-in your first with a handcall (if you haven't already) really adds to the sense of accomplishment. It did for me!
