Dang ! What stung me ?

Just got to recalling a day off Depoe that when pulling the guts from a coho I was "stung" by something . I thought it was perhaps my imagination so I went back in and dang if I didn't get it worse. Little krill type things or crab larvae? Anyway , I'm curious ...any ideas?

Call John Johnson at the Newport fish and game office. He's an expert at all the weird things in the water. In the mean time, keep an eye on the sting ...if it gets worse, go see a doc. Friend of mine had serious problems from something similar and if he'd waited too long, he'd have had to have his hand amputated. Most stings are minor ...but his was infected with something powerful and bad. Nothing's ever stung me around here...

Was it a pinpoint or a wide area??

I know many marine arthropods (marine bugs) do have stingers or will bite and it will feel like a sting for a while.

Pinpoint . There was no swelling or after effects besides small red marks. I called Newport ODFW and Johnson retired. A person they put me through to suggested jelly fish . I said "so salmon eat jelly fish ?" she says "I don't know" Perhaps NOT the salmon expert. They were little bugs of some sort ...I thought maybe crab larvae. ???
