Default Clear 3M vinyl on side of boat

Has anybody tried the clear 3M vinyl that Coho Designs will put on the sides of an aluminum sled? I'd like to maintain the look of new aluminum below the existing vinyl stripe, but am wondering how that clear vinyl holds up, if it starts to discolor after a couple years? It's quite a bit more expensive than the colored vinyl. Any first hand knowledge here?

Brad did mine about 6 months ago, so far so good, I paid a little extra to go double thick on the sides where the crab pots come up! Seems to be a good plan, It's not bulletproof, but helps.

While he was at it, I asked if he could put the boat name (wifes name) on the back? He did for a reasonable amount. You can get a lot of milage out of this on the home front!

I have 'ClearGuard' on the bare aluminum lower half of my North River Scout. It has been on for over a year now....hasn't yellowed and seems to be very durable. It cost quite a bit more than a regular vinyl job, but I believe it is more durable. It makes the new aluminum almost have a painted sheen to it. So far I could not be happier. I had it applied by the folks at NR service when I was buying the boat.

Always felt bad when I would put a new sled in the water, especially salt, and it would stain and look five years old in the first couple of weeks. This stuff did an excellent job of preventing this.
