*THE* movie for all Salty Dogs ...
OK, I decided on my 1000th post ... I've decided to make a post for the betterment
of all you "Dogs" in the world, I'm going to do a movie review that is timely and
has clear decisive relevance to the charter of the Salty Dogs forum ...
New movie came out on DVD this weekend. My wife bought it "for the grandkids". I
totally enjoyed it. Plot was compelling, the character developement was exquiset.
The scenery was beautiful ... 'specially the under water shots of the fish and the sea
turtles! And I really enjoyed the part where one of the main characters (a pelican) called
the sea gulls "beach rats". It was also a perfect depiction of the beach rats screaming
"mine, mine, mine!!" every time they saw something that might have been considered food.
A few of the Australian cast of characters were a little hard to believe, though. The
hardest to believe were the sharks that had a club that espoused that "fish are friends,
not food".
Two thumbs up from my wife and I for the new Disney release "Finding Nemo". A great
lot of fun and perfect entertainment for all you old "Dogs" out there!
Available at most local retailers in either VHS format or a double DVD set with
both full and wide screen versions.

FA,
I'm with you on this one. We got Finding Nemo for our daughter, and watched it as a family the other night. What a funny film. Yes it's nice to have films that appeal to both adults and kids. Pixar does a nice job at that...

We saw it in the theater and I laughed until I was blue in the face during a couple of scenes. Definitely a must see for kids (and Dogs) of all ages.

Re: *THE* movie for all Salty Dogs ...
The depiction of the seagulls and the crabs were too funny, and too real!
"Mine, mine, mine..." and "hey, hey, hey.."
And let's not forget the Father Squid's reaction to seeing the sharks at the end of the story!
O.k. now I've got to go watch it again!

Re: *THE* movie for all Salty Dogs ...
Skein, who seldom goes to movies, took me to see Finding Nemo! It was really great!! We loved it!!
One problem...we should have taken someone's kids with us. We walked in and sat down as the only grown up couple without kids.
We had as much fun as the kids!!

Saw it, loved it. Generally, disney movies bore the crap out of me but this was pretty well done and I actually stayed awake for the whole thing.
The gulls are saying "Mine, Mine, Mine, Mine!!!"
Who'd of guessed that? Flying rats!

Dittos on the great movie. My daughter begged us to get the DVD the DAY it came out, so we caved (happily). Earlier impressions:

Re: *THE* movie for all Salty Dogs ...
After having seen the movie about 3 1/2 times now, I realized that there are many little things that go by quickly, or little play-on-words that I didn't catch the first time. Like how a fish "holds his breath" when he sticks his head out of the water?! Or did anyone notice that the prop on the boat is a duo-prop? This is definitely a classic to keep in the library for a long time!

Quote from PETA: "You know, fish are sensitive, they have personalities"
I'll rent the movie this weekend. My nephew is coming to crab with his uncle, so I will have an excuse.

I sure hope none of your kids get the idea that fish are people too and decide that eating them is wrong.

Re: *THE* movie for all Salty Dogs ...
So ... I wonder ... is Disney/Pixar aware that PETA is using copy writed material
for one of their indoctrination programs?? Seems to me that PETA would want to be
careful here??

Re: *THE* movie for all Salty Dogs ...
What does PETA stand for??
PEOPLE EATING TASTY ANIMALS?
If we were'nt supposed to eat animals, why are they made of meat????
Just funin' ya PETA, I personally have nothing against you folks, you are entitled to have you own beliefs and fight you own wars.
As for the movie, god it was cool!! Being a diver,
it was amazing how realistic alot of it was, even for an animated movie and all. The aquarium scenes
blew me away, way to go Pixar!

Re: *THE* movie for all Salty Dogs ...
So I had to go to the dentist this week for a filling. During the visit
Dr. Kern and I started talking about the movie. Now, ya gotta understand ...
not only is he a dentist, but he is *also* a diver. He watched the movie over
the weekend also. He was amazed at how accurate things in the movie were ...
both from a divers point of view AND from a dentists point of view. He told me that
he almost fell off the chair when the fish in the tank started talking about the
instruments the dentist was using. Said it was right on the money!!
It's amazing on how many levels this movie was accurate! Kudos to Disney
and Pixar!!

Re: *THE* movie for all Salty Dogs ...
But...but...what of the poor, innocent seagulls that were portrayed as the bad guys? And the barracuda, or the jellyfish, what of them? And of course, the divers. Oh, there were sooooo many bad guys.
PETA will latch onto any free ride they can, but they only have as much power as we give 'em. I'm gonna enjoy this little movie without worrying about some group of wackos. And yes, I'm going to watch it again. Maybe I can invite some kids over.
You know, I was kinda watching for a squid or two. Whassa matter deese guys? Maybe they're too scary for a kid's movie. Yeah, that's it, toooooo scary.

Re: *THE* movie for all Salty Dogs ...
It's a crazy world we live in. People watch animated characters and can't seem to differentiate between reality and make-believe...I simply can't imagine how someone could come away from a movie like this feeling like the ocean is such a friendly place. I can't imagine a more unfriendly place on earth. Isn't this why fish are so bug-eyed?
We bought the movie yesterday, and watched it last night. Loved it! Great graphics, very funny. Lotsa inuindo...

I gotta see this movie and gave the wife the green light to buy it when we can...
Thanks Mark...
