Deer and elk are very strong swimmers. 'Doubt they had any problem. Don

These pictures are not from the flooding but I thought I would just share them. These elk were swimming in the Coos Bay. The word is they went on accross to the other side of the bay and are still out there living.

My parents house is about a mile down the road from those coos bay elk. I"M not saying that they didn't cross the bay but i never saw them do it. We saw them fairly often for about 5 years. There was one very large 5 point that would usually hang with the herd. Very impressive swimmers.

I've watched both elk and deer swim the Columbia to hit the lower islands. Watched a bull elk swim half way across only to turn around and come back. Me and a buddy in high school actually petted a doe on the head in a rubber raft. She look like she was going to have a heart attack, but kept going until she reached the island.

Yeah, Deer and Elk are strong swimmers. So are moose. I have seen them swim across some of the fastest waters I have ever been on in AK. They are amazing. I'm sure those elk were fine.
