I haven't been out in a couple weeks and was wondering how people are doing? I hunted hard the first part of the season on a combination of public and private land and can honestly say I haven't seen so few ducks in 10 years of hunting this part of Oregon. I talked to lots of others who thought the same thing. So how has your season been if you've hunted from Corvallis down to Eugene? And has it improved lately or does all this sheet water just have them spread out?
We haven't seen nearly the amount of Ducks and Geese this year as we had lsat year. There is still a lot of standing water in everyone's fields around here.
I haven't seen hardly any Geese flying.
Excellent October and early November with locals and early migrants blowing through. Very very poor mid November to Mid December as there is no water of food to hold the few birds heading south and mild weather kept most of the birds north. The freeze in December made it hot if you could find open water but now all the sheet water has birds spread out. The flip side is there are a ton of birds in the mid valley right now, just have to work on finding the X and have a little luck to boot.
That is the Buena Vista to Wheatland report anyway
