Default Sturgeon Fishing

Well Yesterday we went out sturgeon fishing out of Camas and fished up at corbett area and down by the mouth of the sandy. It started out very slow and windy up river. In fact we couldn't even tell if we were even getting any bits so we pulled out of there and went to the mouth of the sandy and had a very good time. We hooked 3 keepers but none with any size, they were all 42-43 inches and very skinny so we let them go to grow and swim again. we did thoough hook about 45-50 shakers and had a lot of fun with them. I took a good old friend of mine out with me that doesn't get a chance to go out on the boat much any more. Also there was 2 sea lions were we were and we could see them getting fish. They were getting all 3 of the fish. We seen them with springer, steelhead, and also sturgeon. That was the first for me,

I have never seen them go or eat sturgeon before. Is this something they normally due?

Well I wish I had some better news that what I have posted but all in all it was fun.

Thanks for the report.

We fished the St. Helens area for just and hour Saturday night. ANchored right across from the court house in a nice little hole. Picked up a couple of good size shakers in no time. Spent the night at Sand Island moorage.

Fished for springers till 1pm on sunday just below Warrior Rock and nada and saw nada.

It was good weather so it was all good.

Spent Sat. out of St. Helens. Salmon in the AM Sturgon after noon. Nothing going for Salmon. Didn't see or talk to anyone who was doing any good. Lots of shakers but few keepers on. Kept the PM interesting though.
