Default North Idaho snow !

If anyone has been watching the northern part of idaho has been getting pounded by snow storms. The hunting might be a little tough next year. I have saw a few pictures of barns and other building that have collapsed. It is going to interesting to see how the game population survives up there. As of now spokane has 78 inches I believe.

The hunting up there this year was horrible...Another bad winter could delay any trip i have planned back to that area...

Dear Al,

Please send some of your global warming to N. Idaho. I am tired of shoveling snow.

Thanks in advance,

Ryan

I am in missoula right now and drove through spokane on sunday. That 78 inches is total snowfall for the year....not actual pack. There was only about 30 inches on the ground when i stopped at cabelas. Going over the passes there was closer to 5 feet, but I did see some elk in town at St. Regis browsing away 200 yards from houses. They will be fine, as long as they move to their winter range. Hunting MT this fall, the problem with the hunting there (and possibly N Idaho) is there was no early snow to push them into their winter range. A lot of animals are finally moving down, and if they can make it, they should be fine....unless it gets a lot worse!!

Snow is rare in Idaho? Hmmmm. Missed that in geography class.

Elk did ok last at least where I hunt but some areas got pounded. I think the deer have it a lot worse than the elk. They cut down cow season to help out last year. Have family that live up there that are getting tired of shoveling snow. The UPS building in spokane has shutdown certain parts and are working shifts because they are afraid the roof might collapse. I will be heading up there on the 16th and will probably drive around and check out the elk maybe go to the hayden lake golf course and look at the monster whitetail bucks.

I'll bet they do OK...I took a hike last weekend, and the snow under the tree canopies was managable still. And judging by the buck I killed this year, these deer manage to put on TONS of fat to carry them through these tough times. The deer I worry about are the ones in the high country around Bonners Ferry...saw as many wolf tracks as deer tracks in some areas.

And Jody...we'll be dialed. Got a few leads I'm going to explore once spring thaw opens the country back up. We'll talk...

yup...there is some snow here. We have stopped measuring how much snow we have....it just keeps coming and coming and coming. Starting to get a bit annoying.

Really wish I would be able to get out and enjoy it, but everytime we get a break from the snow fall, we are pushing snow around, trying to find places for it.

Now it is raining....and that just means more mess!

The hunting was bad this year (2008) Not many animals around coupled with the warm weather in November. A biologist for the lower panhandle said harvest counts were 70% below normal.

My brother in law knows a bunch of guys who hunt the Joe and they normally buy 2 tags but it was so bad most didn't fill their first tag. Our group shot 6 bulls the smallest a 4 point and the biggest a 350 type bull. My brother in law spring bear hunted down on the Joe lots of elk carcasses last year.

My in-laws have a house in the Priest Lake area and it sounds like they are getting pounded
Any updates from that area would be greatly appreciated!

I live in Spokane. First, we were worried about the streets getting clogged, then the roofs caving in, now the basements getting flooded (when all this *******' snow starts to melt!).

I'm moving to Mexico.
