Default Farrallon Boats

I'm doing a little research on boats mainly used for ocean service and I was wondering if anybody knows much about Farrallon Boats out of Sacramento?

Thank You Farrallon Homepage

Hi Marv, these are fairly popular in the SF Bay area, one of the few boats under 30 ft with straight shaft drives. The glass work is good (hand laid). A number of folks use these to day-fish commercial. Most of the earlier ones had gas engines. A Cummins 6BT is often used for re-powers, and the new ones for those with the bucks. Like any boat, they have their little problems. In the earlier ones, they foamed in the aluminum fuel tanks, trapping water & corroding the aluminum. And the in-deck fish box drained right into the bilge. You can find them every now and then for 25 K or less with a gas engine. Hope this helps...........MArk

I think they are great boats but I may be biased, they were invented in my hometown then moved to Sac to expand.

Marv........I fished on a 25 footer out of Santa Barbara and ran to the channel islands about 20 years ago on one. They are a very solid, heavy, no frills, open style, commercial quality boat that holds its value very well. Even boats that are 20 years old are in the $25,000 range and the new ones are pretty spendy too. I was looking into purchasing one myself until I came upon another deal. For an ocean going do everything type boat a Farallon is in my top five picks.

Marv.......I found a deal I couldn't pass up on a 24 foot Seasport with all the goodies. I really like the boat, especially its below deck fish holding capacity. They are also good solid boats that hold their resale value.

Good luck in the hunt and feel free to ask any questions.
