Techincally he said he wanted some pets
But I jumped to that assumption too
Steamboat, How many of each are you looking to purchase?
You may want to look at hatcheries like Stromberg or Murry McMurry.

His profile says that he lives in Vancouver. Last time I checked, that was in Washington.
You may want to check the laws in the great state of WA about this...
If it is Wild Turkey you are looking for, i would suggest the liquor store.

Re: Need help with Ringnecks or Turkey's.
One thing to consider when purchasing poultry is what kind and how many you want. Typically you can find the basic breeds of mediocre quality at the local feed store, but you can buy as few as you want.
If you want a good blood line of a specific breed you need to go to a hatchery (typically mailorder), but then the minimum orders come into play. You'll notice from Brian's link that the turkey poults are $12 each, but you have to by a minimum of 15
That's fine if you want 15 birds, but if you only want 3 for instance, you might have to go in on an order with someone, or settle for the feed store variety

Re: Need help with Ringnecks or Turkey's.
I'm not really looking for the wiskey right now
besides i dont have enough chest hair to handle wild turkey
Im only looking for 15-20 birds, see i have some property out above hockinson that i would like to put some bird's on. (fenced for the most part) i have seen some hen phesant's up there before, but turkey's up there would be a great bird. from my understanding there use to be quite a few phesant up there untill all of the houses starting being build, and all the house cat's cause a decrease in the phesants. Now a turkey could hold it's own on most predtors. there tuff like grouse, So i think thats what id like to go with.

It still sounds like we're walking a fine line between pet turkeys and releasing turkeys.
Would these birds be farm yard turkeys free to roam, but fed each day and given water?
If not, your asking for trouble from Fish and Game and it's not a responsible thing to do

Re: Need help with Ringnecks or Turkey's.
These turkeys would be on private property, and they would absolutly not be malnourished. food soure would be plentyful.

Re: Need help with Ringnecks or Turkey's.
There is a place up in Battle ground that sells all kinds of birds and bird mixes. I don't think that you can breed them though, I am pretty sure they give them some kind of shot so you can take them into the wild, release them, and shoot them. I have his card somewhere around here and will see if I can find it.
I'm sure that if you search on google you might find him or maybe someone on this board has bought birds from him in the past.
