Ditto on Bill's comment....I have a 921 and it is indeed built like a little tank.

Hmmm, sounds like no has the Presto or Mirro. I have been looking at these models for about $70 but I cannot tell from the pictures how good the locks are. The American seems to have a good locking system, maybe that is why they cost more, but twice the cost ($149)?

I have a Presto 22 qt. that was bought new in 1994 and have had zero problems with it. $70 sounds like the going rate. I have put up many a jar of salmon with mine.

I hear that most people do just fine with the Presto. I went ahead and got the All American because it looked like something that would last a lifetime. It has a thick, heavy casting, with six heavy bolt-down flange/screws. Best of all, it has no gasket but rather a beveled, metal to metal sealing surface. So it seemed well worth the extra $.

I have two, a Maid of Honor, and a Presto. The first one was made for Sears, and looks just like the Presto. They have a gauge and an adjustable wieght.

Big Jon prefers Mirro. Less stuff to mess with.

I bought both of mine off of e-bay, and payed about $22.00 each, plus shipping. They serve my needs well. 21 quart. I can put 16 pint jars in each.

I have had no problems with either of them. I have to babysit them until the gauge settles where I want it to be. No big deal, and the Tuna I put up this year is AWSOME!! (thanks to John and Jen)

Peace, Tom

OK- this is on my Christmas list! JUST in case anybody out there cares!

SANTA, SANTA.... I have about 150 quarts of vacuum packed TUNA loins to deal with!

OH YA- I'll throw in another new MONGO smoker for the wish list.

I like the sound of that All American... have to check it out!

The no-seal design of the All American sounds like a novel concept. I will have give that a close look. I also like the appearance of the locking system.
