I took the family out there during the crazy snow storm. We fished for about an hour, and the smallest eyelet at the tip of the rod kept freezing up from the water on the line. Cool experience, but no action.

My son and I saw one monster fish swim by, and she must have been a holdover, cuz she looked pretty spawned out--real dark with white spots, hard to tell how big, I'm thinking over twenty inches.

We'll be back to try again after this rain slows a bit!

Looks like they're going to stock more big ones next week. Good luck!

Quote:
STOCKING SCHEDULE
Extra large rainbow trout brood stock from Roaring River hatchery near Scio were released at five Willamette Valley locations this week, and additional releases are planned for the weeks of Jan 12. and Jan. 26. These 3- and 4-year-old fish range in size from 8 to 15 pounds. A total of 195 fish will be released at Walter Wirth Lake, Walling Pond, Junction City Pond, West Salish Pond and Sheridan Pond. They may hit worms, eggs or power bait, although colder temperatures prevalent this time of year favor spinners, spoons and plugs.
With a few exceptions, the trout stocking program is over for the year and the limited schedule will continue until spring.

I stopped by around 1pm today just to see how it is fishing. "Very slow" I was told by several that were there since the early morning. I saw one huge fish landed while I was there. Must have been 30 people fishing.

was there about a week ago and saw 2 caught. one small and the other about 15-17 in. I've also seen a big one swimming just off the bank and it it looked old. I usually catch some there but haven't been lately.
