DSD's Transport in cart or decoy bag???
I currently transport my DSD’s in large decoy bags; I have noticed the tail and bill area of the decoys are starting to wear. One of my Lessers has a flattened bill (end of bill is cracked) and that has got me thinking about a decoy cart. So my question is, are the decoys less likely to get damaged if I use a cart?

Cart is the way to do it for sure.

Re: DSD's Transport in cart or decoy bag???
BM, a decoy cart can wear your DSD's as much as transporting them in a decoy bag. If you are using 6 slot bags along with individual bags, don't store them head first, stack them in the 6 slots tail down. If you are putting them in one big bag you can put them in two individual bags sewn together to help protect them.
If you are transporting them in a cart you must pad it, but they will still rub together from stacking them on top each other. A cart is the best way to transport #'s into the field with your gear and blinds, it's the only way to go.

Re: DSD's Transport in cart or decoy bag???
Thanks for the input!!! I use a 6 slotted bag for my honkers, but I have 3 dozen Lessers; that would be 6 bags for just the Lessers (lots of trips into the field). I am worried that decoys bouncing around in a cart would be just as damaging as decoy bags, just trying to get more info before I spend $800 bucks.

If they have individual bags (essential) the cart will defenitely not damage anything. I too currently have bags and will be making the switch to a cart when i get out of grad school and can afford it.

Re: DSD's Transport in cart or decoy bag???
Mine are double-bagged, then in slotted bags, then in a cart...
They're (a dozen each honkers and lessers) used and are showing wear that I'll work on in the spring...they still land birds though (grandson got his first-ever geese yesterday...two).
Which begs a somewhat related question, perhaps of Dave...
Does the factory re-furbish decoys? and if so, at what fee?
I know I can do all the touchups myself. Just curious.

Thanks for the info Bill. I have been told that DSD will repaint decoys for $10.00 each, I would think that includes a flocked head. I recently bought a touch up kit from DSD for $15.00 ( two part paint with black, brown, and tan).

Re: DSD's Transport in cart or decoy bag???
Thanks right back...that seems pretty reasonable...
At the very least worth a call...

Re: DSD's Transport in cart or decoy bag???
I had some re-painted at the shop this last summer, I had to touch up the flocking after they were done. Call Brad and get a price quote.
Also as far as carts go, the decoys need to be rather tight when loaded, any movement when they are loaded up will cause rubbing which harms the paint the most. Long as they are secure you'll be good to go.
