Default Tuna canning

How many of the charter outfits offer trading your tuna for already canned tuna??????
Am already planning my next year trip and don't want to drag whole tuna back to Idaho with me.

Most of the charter houses don't offer the canning service, but there are other places along the coast here who do. If I'm not mistaken, Newport Seafood Market? (in south beach) will can your fish for you, or does a trade as I recall. Best to call ahead and get all the details so you have it all pre-arranged ahead of time.

While it's out of your way, I'm pretty sure Chuck's Seafood in Charleston will work a deal for you. Lemme know if you want a phone number.

I'd consider doing it, but it'll cost you on a 2 to 1 basis (yes, you get two), and I'm by no means FDA approved. The only assurance you'll have that my QA/QC is good, is I'll be eating one jar for your two.

I'm not sure where you are planning on fishing out of, but I take a charter out of Westport, Wn. every other year for tuna. Next year is my time to go again  I know for a minimal fee, they will process your fish on the run back in, so all you have when you reach the dock is meat !!

I don't know the name, but there also is a cannery (meat market ?) in Westport that will process your fish on I think a 2/1 basis. I have never used them, as I just have the fish processed on board, and I do my own canning when I get home.

Tight lines to ya, and good luck on the tuna next year.

Neither of the Canneries in up at the CR (only two that do Sport Tuna - both in Ilwaco) will do trades.

It's kinda risky IMHO to trade Tuna you have gome to great lengths to brain/bleed/gut/quench and ice for Tuna you have NO IDEA how it was treated. Of course if you aren't treating your fish well you might come out ahead.
Anywho... I'd be concerned about how the fish I'm eating was treated.
