Default Snow levels past Cougar

The boys and I went up to our cabin in Northwoods today to shovel some of the snow off the roof. We had to hike in from the 90 road. It was 5' deep on the peak of the roof. The snow has slid off many of the metal roof buildings. No sliding off our composite one. I forgot the camera when we hiked in but I took some shots on the way down. Looks like we may have even more snow this year than last if it keeps up. The winter kill in that area was huge last winter.

Thats not good for the critters. Another hard winter and there won't be much left up there. Pretty amazing pics.

Let me know if you want to check out that winch. I have a bit of fuel I have to use up before I put it away for the year.

Not good. I need to get my Dad up to the cabin, had another friend call me that said there was 5+ feet on the roof... Dad's cabin is up on Marble but without the snow machines, there's no getting in there...

Kieth,
I saw one guy parked on 90 that was putting on snow shoes to make the trek up. Unfortunately the snow is 5' thick on the roofs and its the heavy stuff. When I climbed to the peak on or roof the snow was as high as the shovel handle. I was only able to get about a quarter of our roof clear and it started snowing heavy so the boys and I got out of there before we ended up getting stuck for the rest of the winter. We'll try another go at it next weekend. Hopefully Creagon or somebody will keep 90 plowed. The water system in Northwoods is out. Many cabin owners didn't winterize and of course pipes froze and the system emptied and there's nothing that can be done about it now. If you go up there bring pleanty of "self rescue gear" and friends. Trees are still coming down and some small slides have started.

Looks like I wont be hunting Lions around the cabin again this year. I'll probably give it a whirl at much lower levels .... Lewis River Hatchery

John, that's not good.... Things really are bad. I know Dad winterized the Cabin so hopefully all will be good there. He lost both his decks last year and thankfully didn't rebuild them this year or he probably would have lost those as well....

I don't know if the Creagans are doing any plowing this year. I know Gwayne Johnson has a contract with the state and does some of the plowing down on the 90 so they should keep that open...
