Default Feel Human Again

I know there are guys on this board with a boat parked because it doesn't work for some reason... :depressed: Well, I have been in that situation since around May, which meant no boating on my boat all summer long. All that salmon fishing, crabbing etc etc etc Sort of a dehumanizing feeling :depressed: .

Fortunately, thanks to Corrirod, Pilar and Miss B Haven, I had some fantastic days on the salt -Thanks guys!!

Well, I am sooooooo glad to say that I finally had the funds and time to fix my ride . She had a problem staying cool (uh oh, sounds like I may be talking about Lisa  No really honey, I mean the boat). I basically replaced the whole darn system, manifold, exhaust elbo, impeller, recirc pump, etc. Tested her last night and she is cool coo cool ... I am also very proud to have done all the work myself  .

Ahhh, sure feels good..... Now I can at least go chase some of those crabs, mabye learn how to catch a sturgeon....

What- we're supposed to feel sorry for ya? Not after seeing those pics you sent me from Cabo! By the way- were you just window shopping or did ya actually go into that dance club?

Glad to hear your ride is back in biness. Miss B isn't down but she's got a few aches and pains to fix this winter, I can relate. Nothing 10 or so BOAT bucks won't take care of. :depressed:

Pete, sounds good. You got awful quiet there for a long time. Now you know more about your boat and how it works. That is always a good thing. Next year when you are tearing up the TUNA! with the rest of the gang you can feel some immense satisfaction with your wrench turning adventures. Now you have some months to run that bad boy and learn about what it can do. If it runs anything like 'blackie' on 'Pilar' it will get you anywhere and back and burn very little fuel. After the initial Green boat crap was over on my boat it was all fishing all the time. I very seldom have to get into my tools anymore with the 4 cyl chevy motor.

Gotta say that it ain't no fun when the boat don't run. Nothing beats a hard run on the salt with a boat that performs because you got dirty fixing and fussing over it.

Make sure you take care of the new parts by winterizing the cooling system. Either fill the whole thing with antifreeze by pumping it in through the outdrive pump, running the motor and feeding it 50/50 antifreeze/water through the mickey mouse ears or very carefully drain all the water from the system. Block, manifold and exhaust neck.

If you neglect this precaution the first hard freeze will break your new parts and arrrrggghhhh, you don't want to go there. Don't ask me how I know this.

Ragnar, anytime bro, anytime, I'll go by and pick some up for you next week....

John, the antifreeze is a must, I made a little funnel device hooked to a hose so I can connect to the ears and do the mix. I will not make that mistake, way too much invested at this point... Looking forward to running with ya!!!

Well, since she's such a good girl now, I went by Bently's at lunch and got a new top priced out. I got a pretty good feel for them quality / service wise, but that is a lot of dough. I know that there have been threads in the past, but if anyone has a suggestion on where I should get a competative quote, please shoot me an email...

Thanks
PeterMac

Pete, yes, Jerry's upholstery in Boring. Nice guy, good work to your order and customization and about 2/3 of what Bentleys charges. Also he will tell you what works and what does not.

Where I got mine done. You just have to be patient the guy is a one man show and is very busy.

E-mail me for more info.

Pete-
Go see the guys at NR in Clackamas. They hired a bunch of guys from Bentley's. Not sure if they'll do it, but it's worth a call for a price.
