For those of you that know me, know I like to tinker in my garage and make things. I am always looking for a better cheaper mouse trap
I have been playing around making some cedar plugs and feathers for the last year and have come up with what I am going to call "BULLETS FOR BULLETS" to add to my "CYCLOPS and PUKERS" line of tuna lures.
I have had this idea for a while, and finally got around to trying to make a few. There were a couple things like actually getting the lead inside the casing that were a little harder than imagined
The lure can come in different calibers quite easily. I filled some 300 mag casings 1/2 full of lead while I had a 1/8 inch rod inserted in the primer hole so the line could go thru the lure without having to drill the lead after it is inserted. The lure will run primer end towards the boat. That flat nose ought to create a wake. The hook will be able to come up inside the neck of the casing like a cedar plug. Solid brass body should be durable and appears to paints well.
Should

and I use the word "should",... wobble off the center of gravity which is some where near the middle of the lead mass which is in the nose of the plug, or in this case the butt of the bullet/casing.
I had hoped to hand out some at the next TA meeting but I will be headed to Idaho to buck hunt 11/7, so you will have to wait for the demo's

As usuall... I havent sold a plug, so it aint advertising
What I really need is some larger casings. Like some 50 caliber military stuff. A 300 mag is only about 3 inches long. I have tried a couple army surplus outlets to no avail. Anybody have any access to the army's waste and can carry off some spent brass?
We have 8 months before the seas settle and the tuna arrive again, anybody want to have a contest for the best idea for a new tuna lure while we wait Here is a photo of the first proto type without the epoxy coating on the paint. I wont even tell you my other ideas yet
