A buddy of mine had a S.I. WMA Reservation for a good unit and invited me to accompany him out there on the 1st (today).
We'd talked about it and I reminded him, "Make SURE to get your Reservation soon here, so you don't have to wait til the last minute"
Oh yeah that was "the plan".
So yesterday evening, I'm out rearranging some of my decoys in the back of my rig, switching over from free standing (ice/snow) dekes to some bags of floaters.
Miss Lil comes out, cellphone in hand and says, "Hey, it's your hunting buddy and he wants to talk to you". I tell her, "Please tell him I'll call him back in a few, I'm rumaging around out here and I'll be done soon.
When I get back in the house, I call my friend, thinking we're just going to touch base about what blind we'll ideally get, backup "Plan B" and maybe backup "Plan C".
To my surprise I hear this PANICKED sound to his voice as he says, "Hey I'm over at Freddy's trying to get my Reservation and they CAN'T FIND IT! I stopped by Joe's and they were closed, so was Bi-Mart, and now this is the FOURTH Fred Meyer's I've been to and NONE of them know how to find the Sauvie Is. Hunt Reservations on their modules! What can I do?"
So he hands his cellphone to the gal who's his clerk at Fred Meyers and I start talking to her. She doesn't know WHAT it is my friend's trying to buy and I do my best to explain it to her.
I explain that I know that it IS in there, SOMEWHERE! And that often I've seen *** clerks have lots of trouble locating it, because it's NOT USER FRIENDLY and almost seems like it's "hidden".
After about 5 minutes of trying she finally say, "Oh there it is!" And away we go!
But, my beef is that my friend, with ONLY Fred Meyers stores available to him during his 11th hour plight (yeah, I know I already ragged on him!

) weren't able to help him (at 3 stores) and turned him away, and we almost missed our hunting opportunity.
So, really there are TWO seperate problems here...
ONE (and the most significant) is that the *** Licesne/Tag computer, while different (and perhaps in some ways better) than the previous version still isn't as user friendly as it could be!
And TWO Clerks using the system aren't very well familiarized with HOW to use the system.
Although I really think that item ONE is the main problem?
Has anybody else experienced any of these *** nightmares as well?
P,S. The GOOD news is that we DID make it out to our hunt. We did snag a pretty good spot.
And...we were done before 11 a.m. with 2 limits of good Ducks and getting back in and out of the rain!
