I am looking for a .257 Weatherby mag. I know (obviously) that Wby makes this caliber but I don't necessarily want a weatheby rifle. I just thinkt it is a cool caliber and I want it for deer and mainly antelope sniping.
Does Cooper make this caliber? I know they make a bunck of cool calibers that are not so popular/common. Who else chambers a gun in this caliber?
Remington chambers this in a limited run Model 700 CDL with fluted barrel. They also chamber this in the Model 700 LSS (Laminate Stock Stainless). 26 inch barrels. They have one of these at Cabelas. I look at it from time to time

After my last two Remingtons that were new, both 700s, I am scared to buy another. I used to like the sleek action and the lack of bulkiness compared to a mauser action, but I changed my mind. I really like the mauser actions now as they are super beefy relative to the 700 action.
I don't think I'll ever buy a new Remington again. Both had problems that required repair from the factory. It's fine if they fix 'em so that they ork, but who wants to ship their new gun out for 4 months? I think they are so mass produced that quality has been long forgotten.
Are Remington and Weatherby the only two that produce the .257 Wby caliber?
As far as factory rifles, I believe that Remington and Weatherby are it. Montana Rifle Company offers the 257 WBY. I think you can get a stainless barreled action for around $1100. Put a stock on it and you'll be in the $1500 to $1700 range. A bit more than a Mark V Accumark.

My friend Dennis just purchased one at Sportsman's last Friday....He got it for $ 579.00. It was 30% off and then he purchased a Zeiss Z6 scope for a great set up for under $1,100.00!!!
I have one in a Vanguard. I like the rifle, the trigger sucks, but that's easily fixable with money. I'm not a fan of the Weatherby style stocks, but there are aftermarket stocks available.
I'd rather have a Remington, but this one will work.
