Well I did it
Last night I went to fishermans and bought and new Penn 321 and put 80 Tuff line on her. Then I made the mistake of wandering by the tuna and big game gear. I caved....... Bought a bunch of clones in the colors my good friends Mel and Tom were using this summer.
I am ashamed of myself. My addiction is strong and incurable. I am terminally ill with tuna-itis of the brain. I need help. Not sure if I can make it until the next TA meeting. Pray for me that I can bear this obsession for the next nine months.
I even looked at a couple of new rods! Oh, I am sick! Avast, ye tun'ers! Ye be in a great deal o' termoil fer the summer to come. See what I mean? Even the pirate talk is starting to get to me. What can I do??????

Re: Well I did it
What you have done is very admirable. While one might be inclined to think you are "late in the game" in buying these much needed items, I see it as you're getting an "early" start. So many of us wait until spring and even early summer to get the things we need, often when money is tight. You on the other hand, in thinking proactively, are a step ahead of the rest of us.
I too am inflicted. That is why I can turn something that's probably ludicrous (in real lif) and turn it into a noble feat.

Re: Well I did it
It's so bad I already have my Christmas list together. My wife wants to know where Englunds is and what zukers, clones, cedar plug, handlines, snubbers, yozuri divers and so on are. And why in fact would I want to own a Mexican flag. We are not Latino's Also "why the heck do you need more rods and reels"? I just try to " 'splain" it to her and all she does is this
Englunds is also on my birthday shopping list too!
Hey, there is also valentine day!!!!! and ... and our 20th anniversary!!!! and oh boy the wifes birthday is in November and and and I have three kids with birthdays. And I know my dad would love tuna gear for his birthday too. Not my mom though. She's completely "holy". Don't want to get her mixed up in this addiction.
It's really bad is'nt it? :depressed:

Re: Well I did it
Tom you are right. Forgot completely about the half tote. Thanks Why stop there though. I still need a couple of 150at coolers too. I have to give her Sunny's number and then remind her in the spring.
Ya know, I might even celebrate Presidents day this year with gifts and I am sure the Easter Bunny would enjoy placing colorful clones in those oversized snapped together eggs he hides. Kids are sure gonna be disappointed when they don't find any Easter Eggs.

Re: Well I did it
Good job Bernie,
I have the rods and reels, just don't have the knowledge yet of what to get for gear , but am learning more every day. I will be going to the winter TA meeting and am sure that I will be able to meet others who have to add to their tackle boxes. Hopefully, somebody will be available for a little tuna fun at Fishermans or Englunds. I hope I will be following Cindy Lou & Miss B out chasing Albie, . A bunch of my friends on your dock are also gearing up this winter. Should be alota fun if ya can hold on for nine months.

Re: Well I did it
Mel-
FMS at Delta did have the green Mac plugs last Saturday when I was there. Somehow, a few of them followed me to the cash register along with a few of the rainbow versions. I tried putting them back, but they just kept jumping into my arms. Little guys were lonely, so I graciously agreed to take them home to play with the Zurkers for the winter. Bernie- did FMS have any of those blue or green Mackeral cedar plugs? Never to early to start shopping for next year right?

Sunny I saw those on e-bay. How do they look? Was kinda curious if anyone had bought from that supplier.

Re: Well I did it
They look pretty good, actually. I'm going to rig some up and test them in the jacuzzi. Wonder if I can get it going 7-8 mph in the tub!! Boy, next season seems so far away!

Re: Well I did it
Englunds? Did someone say Englunds? Okay, I'm there! Candy, jewelry, necessities, all under one roof!
Veteran's Day, President's Day, my niece's birthday, all good reasons to slip over to Englunds and look around for suitable gifts. Time to start filling up that new tackle box I just bought. Great idea, Bernie!
Tomorrow I'm headed down to Creswell to look for a couple of blanks for tuna rods.
But wait, it's not nine months! Nosireeee. You've forgotten that we're all going to head down to Baja in the spring. Yaaaahooooo!!!!
Uh....does Englunds sell plane tickets?

Re: Well I did it
Never tried walleyes yet Terry. Been to busy with Salmon. Kinda taking time off from salmon right now. Gonna hit the sturgeon the rest of the month and maybe one trip to Tilly. After that two weekends in November up at Hoodsport area for Keta's. Got to replinish the egg supply for springers and steelies.
BTW, tried one time for a summer fish. Pop's got a nice 15lbr in early July on a spinner. C&E got zippo :depressed:

Keta- You paid $85 for a broken link on ebay?
Looks like you tried to link directly to your hard drive from the path.
