Default Length of Tuna Line??

I have noticed in most post that it appears that the average length for the main Tuna line is about
100'. On the Tuna charters that I normally takeout
I notice that they stagger their lengths and they get like a U shape behind the boat. The longest lines they put out on the outriggers and the shortest directly behind the boat and even some shorter ones on the divers. My question is - What is about the shortest that a line should be? Is longer better? It seems that sometimes they hit right in the turbulent prop water. Does length matter????

I personally run my lines in the following order ... from the tip of the
outriggers to the back center of the boat:

100 ft.
80 ft.
60 ft.
20 ft (off the back corners of the boat)\

My "stern line", which is in the center of the boat we run the "line from heck"
that is about 150 feet long. I also run two fishing poles out to about 170 to
180 ft. and I put the poles up in the rocket launchers to keep 'em out of the
way. And YES, you basicly want your jigs following you in a "V" pattern (as
you can see from my setup, I actually have TWO "V" patterns following my boat.

EDIT: I don't know if this is the best way to run your lines, but
it seems to work of me pretty well. YMMV.

Thanks FA. That helps a lot. I know that the session is just ending. But I am trying to get things ready for next year.

I run sort of a W pattern off my boat. A lot depends on the sea conditions. If things are fairly flat, it's much easier to run more lines than if it's rough out.

L4E - We tried several differnt lenghts of lines this year. The shortest was 40' and we ran that off the center of the stern. We ran two rods tipped outward which were the longest lines we set, probably 125>200' from each side of the boat. We then cleated-off a diver with 40' on each side and on the same cleat we put 100' lines.
The shortest lines went directly from the transom directly behind the boat so that we had a "V" shape spread. We put out a total of eight lines ranging from 40' to well over 100'. By the end of our fist trip team "Pilsbury" was a well oiled machine with two hands minding the lines and carking fish and one to mind the helm and prevent tangles. We were bloody from head to foot - one hellava day!!
