Cougar Down!! pic added
My buddy's wife whacked one yesterday morning as she was going to a friend's house for coffee. Taken west of Madras. 93 lb. female. I'll post some pics as soon as I get them. That just saved 50 some deer in Madras area. He's a little jealous as his wife got one before him!

Re: Cougar Down!!
Makes it a lot easier for you big-game hunters there. Pumas will take down a good number of deer and elk, and Oregon is full of those buggers by now. Bring back hound hunting!

Re: Cougar Down!!
Saved a lot more than 50 deer. They kill around 90 per year and a female with kittens substantially more.

Re: Cougar Down!!
Well, not a huge story, but went over east to do a little coyote hunt and ended up cutting some of this girls fresh tracks in the snow. When i find fresh cat tracks im gone, i high tailed it and started following. 4 miles later we stumbled on a deer kill that was probably only an hour old. I examined the deer for a few minutes and then got a weird feeling so walked about 20 yards and peeked over this little ridge and one shot to the neck at 45 yards was all it took. This happened from 8 a.m to 3:15. however, packing it out 4 miles on your back, i didn't end up getting to camp until a little after 9.
lots of cats out and about. cut another track when following this one, just decided to stay on course.

Re: Cougar Down!!
Always amazes me when I see pics of these guys next to a full grow man. Paws as big as your head. Then I think about all the unarmed hiking trips I took in the past with the wife and kids.
Congrats to all of you and your harvest.

those are some great cats you guys got. and yeah i've noticied that too about stott mt my friend has hunted it a few years now and he said he's noticed less elk each year and this year i ran into about 10-12 elk out there and there was only like 1 or 2 calves in the herd. picked up my trail cam from there sunday and saw some cougar tracks in the light snow but we have got our tags for this year yet.
