The Daily Oregonian Swordfish Trip
Fun to read about the pirates at sea in Bill's column!

Re: The Daily Oregonian Swordfish Trip
Thanks Bill!
You didn't have to talk so much about me though, there were others onboard who deserved more.
You could've saved a lot of ink by taking Dean's info off there though, he really wasn't much help on that trip! Well, at least not for any daytime activities!

Thanks, Bill, great article. It's always nice to see the Ifishers get coverage in the paper.
As Capt'n Bruce said, that was a perfect exploratory trip. It gave us insight into what it's like out there on an extended trip (dark) and what we need to think about for next time (less "stuff," more bait), and where to go - or not to go. The deal is we got out there and we got back, so objective number one goes over in the "accomplished" column. Now that we know what to expect, we can concentrate on the fishing.
I think Mr Swordfish's days are numbered. Maybe not this year, but counting down just the same.
Great trip, Skipper! And thanks, Bill.

Re: The Daily Oregonian Swordfish Trip
Thanks Bill for your interest in this quest (ala Don Quixote).
Many thanks to Team Swordfish for the award. Your chances of getting me to ever pick up a camera or video camera again are about the same as finding icecubes in the devil's highball glass.
Next year the race will be on to land the first broadbill. Popeye has the decided advantage of experience, a brother that does this fishery down south and a big boat.
Even so, I'm hoping the first sword will be on taken on my boat and that I can drag the damn thing tied to the side of my boat fast enough to keep the sharks from getting the best of it. Now where am I going to mount a radar display and mast?

Re: The Daily Oregonian Swordfish Trip
By the way, Pilar...what the heck happened to my tuna? Do I get it back since it was only a 12-pound baitfish and you brought home...what was it? Oh yeah! 28 to 35 pounders?
