Minaki Reports- CR Tuna Slow (at best) 10/4
Called Tom (Kamloops) about 6 this eve. He was just coming in past B14 (long day to say the least). Only one Tuna on Minaki! :depressed:
They hit the shale pile late and picked up some bottom fish. Didn't sound like the other two boats out of Hammond did much on Tuna either ( I didn't get a count), everyone hit the shale pile for the "lobster with fins" (yuuuummmmm!)
The wood hauling in Hillsboro on the other hand was excellent! Got about 4 cords in the last 2 days. Anybody wanna join me for some "wackin' and stackin" tomorrow?
edit- Oh and he said it was a gorgeous flat Ocean out there!

Yes it was a great ocean! It was beautiful outside except for the lack of Mr. Tuna. Tom deflowered one virgin but the other virgin got away without a scratch. We quit tuna trolling after about 8 hours and went after some bottom fish. Tom put us right on top of the rascals and we introduced them to Mr. longfin in the box. It was a pretty long day, but I slept good last night. Thanks Tom for a very nice day with some wonderful people.

I dunno about this, he was probably too busy watching the game to be paying attention. Can't belive he left one for me for next year!

Re: Minaki Reports- CR Tuna Slow (at best) 10/4
Stopped at Sturgeon Pauls for some frozen sardines and talked to Paul. Mark on the Ruby Sea
had been out a couple days and had to go out 100miles south of Tillamook Head and found some nice school fish.
Left the Dock at 5:00am, hooked with the Hammond boys at 5:30 and out we went.
We steamed out on a 215 from #1 to the 124.48 line and headed south. Three other boats along for the hunt. They steered a 240 course.Troy hooked up on a Hake on a jig, That was pretty much their days highlight.
We stopped at the 124.48 line and threw the hardware over, lots of birds, lots of porps. and other great looking signs. Just no Tuna. Trolled for an hour than picked up and ran on a SW out to the 125.10 line and saw some jumpers. Threw the gear out again and after a couple hours hooked up on a fish, Tiger striped green Mackeral cedar plug.
Great ocean, 62 degree water, there was a large catcher proccessor fishing for Hake but no Jig boats to be seen.
On the way home we stopped by the Shale Pile and fished for a couple hours. Troy and Dean had steamed there several hours sooner than we did and were all but done by the time we got there.
All in All, think everyone had a great time.

Hey, ya gave it a shot. Glad you got some bottom fishies though. I can show you how to blacken your fingers if ya'd like.

Mel the new skin is forming very nicely. The leather started peeling away last night and the new skin is very pink underneath. Looks like I will have a little scar tissue but not as bad as I thought. Feeling pretty lucky. And yes, it hurt like H. E. double tooth picks. Ice water in a bowl was my best friend that night.

Don't matter Steve- North of Falcon is CLOSED to all Salmon outside the river, Chinook, Ho's, Chums, Sockeye or Cherries (hehe), doesn't matter much.
Oh- and and I keep telling you guys, Jety A is in WA water, closed for pots in the fall, gotoa use WA marked pots when it is open, and have a WA shellfish license!
