Had a half day to go check out an area I got permission to coyote hunt on. Had to make it out of town first!
Always something to see, this guy almost jumped over my truck.
I should have brought snow shoes. Looks pretty good to me, quite a few tracks, both bunnies and dawgs. I made time for three different stands, best I could do was get some magpies to fly in. No biggy, I just wanted to know the lay of the area before me and a buddy come out next week and get real serious. Not a lot of cover so we'll bring the pop-up blind next week.
A few shots of the area.
I needed to meet a friend in Baker by 3PM to pick up a scope I let him borrow so I had to take a different route home, wish this picture did the scene justice.
Thought I could sneak back into town the scenic route, maybe get pics of the Elk herd(s). Nope, had to get back on the freeway, understandably.
I can only imagine parking on the roadside edge to hunt pheasants in drifting snow to come back to this. I guarantee you this truck has been there since Friday afternoon. Now THAT's buried.
Quite obvious why all the county roads and Ladd Eastbound were closed since Friday. It's amazing how fast that drifting snow piles up.
Hoping for some carnage next weekend when I can put a full two days into it. Meanwhile, enjoy more of my pictures where nothing died. Seems I excell at that.
