I know that a temperature inversion can happen on lakes/reservoirs with large dams. Does anyone fish Dorena in the winter with sucess? I was thinking that there might be some good action next to the dam. The water is pretty deep there. Hmmm.
I was thinking the same thing this morning. I have talked to maney people that have caught bass off the dam in november and december. I dont know if january is to late or not. Although some of the tales i have heard of that may not be 100% truthfull, because of the lures that were supposedly used. But hey i guess anything is possible.
Took the pond boat out and went to Cottage Grove on Friday the 26th, we drug jigs, soft plastics texas style and tried deep crankbaits (for a short time) and it resulted in NADA. I think it's possible but you have to have a ton of patience and some warm gear. We ended up leaving after a few hours because it was pretty miserable once it started raining. We know there are fish there as we caught them there about a month ago and the water level has only dropped a few feet since then, but not even a tick. But on that day in November we had a 19+pound for our best 5 fish day mostly on texas rigged cradad/creatures. We hadn't fished much in November before and ended up having a great day. But the weather had been unseasonably warm and there had been very little rain as everyone knew. The first two are at Cottage Grove from November, I checked and it was the 22nd, so just over a month ago. I can't recall the water temp but is is way colder now!!! The third is a couple that Stav93cobra caught at Dorena on November 7th, we used crankbaits mostly and some soft plastics and caught a total of about 6 or 7 if I recall correctly. I figured I would dig the pics out as I haven't seen a fish in a while, so it will remind me of what they look like! They are out there and its possible, so if you try good luck and keep us posted.

Roast Quest! Good work, that lake has been known to produce a few slobs... I'm going for the belt next year. I bet a few good war cries were belted out
