Re: Parting shot for Friday ...
Thanks for the words. They evoked all those great feelings that we love. Especially as I am feeling so darned landlocked these days. Work....now there is a word that can suck some fishing life right out of you.

Re: Parting shot for Friday ...
8knots, you should retire like Skein and I. We don't have to get up in the morning until we are darn good and ready. We don't have a boss telling us what to do. We just hunt and fish until we are tired and then take a nap.
AHHH the retired like, don't you just love it?

Yep, eat 'til you get tired, sleep 'til you get hungry, that's my motto. It's tough I tell ya.
It's amazing what you can get done in a day (Janis says "nothing") when you've got all day to do it.

"I just love this stuff"
As quoted while leaving the south beach boat launch on my last trip on big blue aboard the Pilar.
Peace, Tom

Re: Parting shot for Friday ...
To the retired SA's. You guys just have to rub it in! I'm happy for ya! Stay healthy for another 20 to 30 years so you can keep enjoying all that good stuff. I hit 50 this week so I am probably looking at another decade of work. At least it allows me to keep up with my old 42 footer.

Parting shot for Friday ...
I love:
The smell of the ocean air,
The sea breeze blowing through my hair,
The feeling of the sun on my face,
The sounds of the diesels rumbling beneath my feet,
The tug of a fish on the line,
The sense of adventure as I cruise off shore,
The call of the sea going birds,
The sight of porpoise running in the bow wake,
The whales rolling and breaching,
The exquisite view of a sunrise from 10, 20, 30 miles out to sea,
The satisfaction of a job well done after a good day of fishing,
The sore muscles after a long day on the ocean,
The kids that have been raised in the fishing tradition,
The wife that allows me my passion,
The rolling deck beneath my feet,
The peace and tranquility,
The feeling of freedom that the ocean provides.

Man, you covered a lot of ground in a very few words. Or should I say sea. That belongs on a poster somewhere.

Yeah Mark, I sure hate getting up early and getting on the water before the sun rises.
