Default What's happened to me?

I love salmon fishing. I do! But for some reason, the fish just don't seem to fight this year. I mean yeah, they do these little bulldog runs of 20 feet or so, and walk me around the boat once or twice, but they just don't seem to have any spunk.

I hooked into a nice little 25# female tonight. It was like she was tired or something. I had to loosen my drag way back and splash the net in the water a couple times just to get her to run, and even then, she only went 20-30 feet and turned.

What has happened to my salmon fishing? Did something happen over the summer that somehow changed me?

It's the boat. They know they're beaten when they see that yello halo over their heads.

Tuna, I think, are colorblind.

Naw! They smell the TUNA! blood and they give up. They know you've beaten TUNA! and don't even try to fight it.

Well I think the deal is it is all the fault of the TUNA... nothing fights much after one of them.. :depressed:

but it is still fun to reel 'em in..

Oh no , You are telling me that after Tuna there really isnt thing beyond. Im worried now , I thought I liked to catch salmon,,, Will the tuna bug eat away at my love of salmon fishing and Ill end up moving to Mexico or some weird warm place. Then spend the rest of my days chasing the long fin , or Blue fin or something like that.
Hummmm. Interesting. Maybe Ill as Skein, he caught his first tuna this summer . Hiho

A good thing happened yesterday. Every year, at work, we host a "Client Appreciation BBQ". We typically have the usual hamburgers and hotdogs, tater salad, you know...they typical stuff.

A few years ago, we included fresh BBQ'd oysters. That went over quite well, and seemed to draw in more people. Last year, I BBQ's a fresh salmon. That helped a little more.

This year, we did up a bunch of tuna. As you would expect, it was quite the hit. My boss from out-of-town was there. You couldn't keep him away from the tuna. He insisted that the tuna MUST become a regular staple at this funtion. So I asked, "So, if I don't have any tuna prior to the BBQ, and my weekends are full, I should take a few days off to make sure we can include tuna into our BBQ fare, that would be ok?"

"Do what you have to do, just make sure there is tuna!"

Life is good........
