New Classifieds Forum Rules

The community at ifish offers a unique opportunity to buy and sell things from people in the community whom are familiar with one another, through contributions to the boards.

You must have at least 50 posts on ifish, and you must be an active community member for a minimum of 90 days in order to start a new thread in the ifish classifieds.

if we find that your posts on ifish, (in order to reach 50) are frivolous, or if it is plain to us that you are just posting, "I agree" "Uh huh" or posting pictures in order to reach the limit, you will be disallowed.

We hope that this helps to minimize risks on ifish, and increases your comfort level in buying from someone you know.

Any member on ifish (regardless of post count) may buy, or reply to an ad. Members with less than 50 posts must wait until they have the required posts to sell an item.

Please do not try to sell an item as a reply to a post. This will be immediately removed.

We hope that this helps to minimize risks on ifish, and increases your comfort level in buying from someone you know. We also hope that this cuts down on insulting and/or unnecessary postings on your classified ads.

The Classified Forums are for one time private sales. We do not allow auction type selling and require a listed price for each item. Sponsors may occasionally use the classifieds and do not have to list a price for business sales.

Multiple production of one item may not be continuously advertised. These boards use excludes any legal business, unless those businesses are specifically Ifish vendors. www.ifish.net assumes no responsibility for items bought, sold or traded.

Transactions are between private individuals and normal caution should be exercised.

Pictures are encouraged in your ads and will help to sell your item. You can use the “Gallery” section (top of page under the Lamiglas ad) to store pictures if you do not have your own web space. To learn how to upload a picture Pete has done an excellent tutorial on how to post photos. Find that thread pinned to the top of the Life In General Forum, along with other tutorial threads.

Please do not post items for sale in multiple forums. Keep items in their proper forum. This helps keep things organized.

We do not allow pointer ads on ifish. This means that you cannot post to the general boards asking members to "go see" what you have for sale. These posts will be promptly removed.
Feel free to “bump” your ad if it falls off the first page. We try to prune ads after six months. That means a post will be deleted six months after the date of the last reply (if any) or the original posting date. If you no longer want the ad to run please notify the moderators by the procedure outlined below.

To delete your ad:

Please find this symbol to the left, and immediately beside the end sentence of your post.
Simply click on the symbol and a text box will appear. Type in your message and click on “send report”. Please use the Alert Feature if you would like your ad deleted, believe a post should be watched due to content, or just to alert the moderators for whatever reason!

Thanks!

The www.Ifish.net moderators and administration

General (And extremely important!)

Be nice to the help!
Our volunteers are just that... volunteers! They do not get paid but rather offer assistance to help keep our classifieds free, productive and useful to the members of ifish.net. If you are abusive or rude to them it is grounds for automatic banning from the forums. There are people who have lost their ability to use ifish.net for such reasons. We must provide a friendly environment for our moderators and will not tolerate abuse to them for their efforts to improve and maintain the classifieds.
Be Aware of Legal Issues!
We have worked with various agencies upon request to help prosecute scammers, con-artists, or illegal sales and shipping. We rule a tight ship, here, and if asked by authorities for help keeping the laws of our land, we will assist them as much as we can.

For more information please read the Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) READ IT HERE

Legal Use of Forums

Banning
We reserve the right to ban any account based on any alleged illegal activities.
Know the Law
We try to keep up on the laws but it is impractical for us to know them all. We encourage people to let us know of potential illegal activities.
Lawful Sales Only
We encourage only the lawful sale of products. It is the responsibility of the both the seller and buyer to ensure they are not violating any laws or barter laws. Every county and state have their own set of laws. It is your responsibility to ensure you are conducting legal activities.
Posting Ads
Ads must be posted in relevant area. Boats in the boats area, general in the general. Simple.

Links to ebay ads
Links to ebay ads are OK as long as you are the sole contact for the ad and is restricted to only having a "Buy Now" price. We are not an auction site.
Allowed information in an Advertisement
All Ads must represent a specific product. No "lots of this" or "lots of that" allowed.
Self Representation
You may post advertisements for yourself, or a close family member, friend, or neighbor for whom membership with ifish is permitted. The important thing is to remember that you are the only point of contact on all sales. It is not allowed to post someone else's contact info or phone number.
Look up to the gold line at the top of the page and see:
User CP > Options > Email Settings
User CP > Options > Board Settings > Personal Messenger
We do not recommend posting an e-mail address in your actual ad. This prevents spammers from finding your address and spamming you. Bots surf the web just looking for e mail addresses. Don't let them find yours!

You can also setup your Personal Messages to send you an E-mail *automatic) alert that you have a personal message, so you don't have to visit the site as much when you are awaiting a reply.
We highly recommend that for the purpose of the buyer, you name a City and State in which you are located.
Banned Accounts
Once your account is banned for good or a short probation for whatever reason by complaints, violations of our rules, or any other site bans. You are not allowed to re-register in any way, format, or under any circumstances.
Any attempt to bypass or circumvent this system by registering under the alias, name of a friend, family member, or any other form will cause the account to be terminated
We also reserve the right to prosecute for fraud and lost wages for the time it takes to deal with the problems you created and legal expenses. It is now a crime to misrepresent yourself on-line.
Anyone who knowingly assists in fraudulently obtaining an account will have be banned and is liable for fraud as well. We reserve the right to prosecute as well for the same reason as stated above.

We reserve the right to ban you without the rule if we deem it in our best interest, or even just easier to deal with.
If you are caught selling multiple production orders, or if you are caught doing business on ifish without being a paid sponsor, or making other arrangements with me, your account WILL be closed as a consequence.

PLEASE... if you are knowingly buying from someone on the boards who is doing business as a non sponsor, do know that you risk losing your money if I ban their account. You will not be refunded.

Know that if that happens, you cannot get money back from Ifish. Your business is with the banned member.

Know that any ad may be removed at the discretion of the moderators.

I will do all that I can to assist you, but it is not my responsibility.

It is against our rules both to sell or buy from someone who is obviously making several of something, against our rules.

I had to ban an account today for doing multiple sales. I can only hope that no one will get stung on this deal.

I must honor the sponsors, and unless you are one, you have no right to do repeated business on this classified ad board.

This is for ONE TIME private sales. It is not your store front.

Yes, I'm a bit ticked but mostly so disappointed that people would take advantage of what we do here.

So, very disappointed.

Default No Ticket Scalping on ifish

Sorry- but we are all friends here, and it just doesn't seem ifish like to scalp tickets.

We will not be allowing it on ifish.

If you are interested in buying a ticket for an event, please say so under a WTB ad. People may PM you with offers and it's up to you if you want to accept it, but we aren't going to be allowing listings of these ads at this time.

You may sell tickets on ifish at the retail amount or enough over to cover expense to get them for someone.

Thank you, and I'm sorry for those who might disagree.

I had to make a decision, and this is my decision.

Sadly for some, this rule MUST be upheld, or we will have no ifish.net.

Default www.ifish.net assumes no responsibility...

Please know that when you do business on ifish, we do not have any type of dispute procedure!

We simply state above that:

Quote:
www.ifish.net assumes no responsibility for items bought, sold or traded. Transactions are between private individuals and normal caution should be exercised.
We recommend that folks use PayPal so you have a measure of insulation.

Just like placing a classified ad in the paper, we just don't do disputes. I wish there were a better answer, but to date, we have not figured out how to easily help members with {fairly rare} unpleasant or unsatisfactory transactions.

Thank you for your understanding.

Again, please use our alert system to delete your advertisements when they are completed.

Please know that if you are interested in an item and are not a member, we are not able to help you by passing messages along that you are interested.

The classifieds at ifish are for ifishers only.

Please be patient, and become a member if you are interested!
