Default 10/1 Westport Tuna Report

Trouble again getting live bait. Finally got a scoop and left the harbor at 08:00. Flat calm on the outside. Ran a 230 per the the latest SST. Was surprised to find 60 degree clean tuna water at 27 miles. Full of working birds. Trolled a 8 mi. sq area for nothing. Wind picked up to 15-18 and even though 3' swell got really snotty. 1/8 to 1/4 mi vis in fog had me on radar the whole way back. Honed my skills.
Hanging it up 'til next year.

Had one good trip though!

No jig boats. I didn't write down any numbers. I was on a 230 at 27-28 miles. I'd have to plot it on a chart.

Last week the tuna water was at 45 miles. Think I should have gone further. It looked so good at 27 out though!

Thanks Hamachi,

I'll get my charts out.
Well, one more stupid question, did you see any Jig boats out there last week.
I'm not trying to be nosey, but those guys usually know where the fish are.
We did have several Jig boats working the area we fished last weekend.
Hope I can find a few this Saturday.

Hamachi, do you trailer over or do you leave your boat there during the bite?

5 jig boats out last week.

My aluminum skiff is on a trailer. Never stays on the water overnight.

Fished the sound out of Redondo until this year when I bought my first house in Gig Harbor. Hopefully will get back to that routine next year when things settle down.
