Cool Reinventing The Wheel

I finally bought a 270win last fall. My first. I have loaded for others, but never had one in my own safe.

In deciding on the reloading components, I looked at all the manuals, read online, and asked people on the street.

After much research, I have decided on the following groundbreaking recepie to murder innocent creatures with.....

Nosler case (They are already prepped & sorted.....I am lazy. I hate trimming and deburring brass. Primer pockets never had much sex appeal for me)
Federal 210 Gold Match primers(I hope they make some for the public sometime soon. Down to my last 1000)
Barnes 130 grain TSX
And here is the earth shaking news..........H-4831

This NASA approved combo will drive the copper slugs somewhere around 3025-3150fps- give or take. The chronograph will tell me when I have an adequate amount of powder. Somewhere between 58 and 62 grains is my guess.

I will not shoot groups until I have established velocity. What good is a 270 case if don't take what it has to offer?

In the relatively near future, I will work on another revelation in handloading. The reduced load in a 30-06 family case (25-06, 270, 280, 30-06. I have not tried it in the Whelen or the 338-06, but I bet it would work there too) using 25 gr. of 4759 and whatever accurate mid weight bullet I can find semi cheap. Ballistic tips and Sierrias are a favorite.

That looks like a good load! I am contemplating working up a new load for my .270 next week. I am currently shooting a 140 grain ballistic tip. I am thinking of switching to a 140 grain accubond. I am currently using IMR 4831 and will probably use it again.
