Default Coastal "Celebrity Two" Chrome! (Pictures)

Met up with Tony Davis of Kodiak Custom Tackle tdy to get a royal a.. whoopin in fishing....... I also learned a few lesson's in lure color selection and presentaion.......

Here is Tony's thirds cast after releasing two cutthroat trout in two consecutive casts.

Here is Tony's first cast in another hole......

Here is Tony's second cast.....

Here is the weapon he unleased on me....boy did I stink it up tdy....

We fished real hard all day, with results in one area, and all three of Tony's fish where caught mid-day.

TY,i had a buddy teach me how to build custom spinners and then how to fish them,WOW  my catch rate soared, but no matter how many fish i caught he always caught more,i would catch 5 he would catch 7,i only outfished him once on fall chinook,he is by far the best fisherman i have ever fished with, and i've been chasing chrome for over 30 years,im sure you've seen him on the river you fish

Everyone can use a lesson occasionally.
Your friend Tony sure knows his stuff. No wonder his spinners are becoming popular!

Love them photos!!

You all know that the lure deal has been simplified over the past few years for us all. Heck, I've got some second graders that have the tech tips thanks to technology.

Folks, check out the book "What Fish See" and tear open the back of a Mepps See Best spinner and your on your way to the same type of angle all the other lures makers have.

You lucky dog Ty! Your living the pipe dream of fishing and hope you never have to join the workforce because I love that consistent photo proof.

I'm not going to bash tony for his luck with steelhead fishing. He has done a good job to catch those fish. However to bost a picture of a spent steelhead is little to be proud of, much less three. It is okay to post pictures of fish and be proud, just a little wierd to hold up a spent fish. You never see any spent chinook with white spots being held for photos.

Good job catching those fish on your spinners though.

Lund, I think it is less of a "fishing" post as it is a shameless plug for those spinners (notice the spinner hanging out of the last fishes mouth is bone-dry ) Yea, I'd pick some different examples of what those spinners are capable of.

THEY ARE HATCHERY FISH!!! So what if they are a little mildewed. Ty caught some more fish... posted pictures...he even shares the secret weapon with everyone.....and you are WHINING because the HATCHERY fish isn't CHROME.

Some people are just born to be crybabies

Keep up the good work, Ty. Know that everyone isn't out to pee in your Wheaties

Maybe so...But you couldn't pay me $1000.00 to have my pic on Ifish holding up spawners.

If you ask me...you're saying alot about your fishing experience by having pics like those here on Ifish. I'm not impressed.

Diff'rent strokes for differnt folks!

FYI....

To those whome it may concern... I have caught 57 steelhead this season... Fished w/ Tony and his spinners one day out of 26 day and he skunked me three to zero?

Lets see, I fished all my deadlyest weapons and came up with nothin..... and u guys dog me and Tony for keepin spawners.... Oh please...... spawners are fun and I assure u the two that Tony kept cut as well as any of the fish I have kept this season.....

I havn't kept any spawners this season.... In reality all of us should....It is our civic duty...... These fish fought very well and where entertaining at the very least.... I would say that the half dozen spawners out 50 others where some of the hardest fighting fish I have caught of the season....

So those of u that sit at home and have nothin better to gripe about......go fishing or something and release some of that pent up frustration.... you could learn alot from a spent steelhead....

....the last I recall, we didn't want HATCHERY fish to SPAWN in the stream. So what the ---- is wrong with posting a picture with a 'spawner'?

And what exactly does a picture say about someone's fishing experience?

Some people on here would be ****ed if you took a picture with a MALE crab before you chucked it over the side.....

Once again...Rock on, all of you that dare to enjoy catching a less than perfect looking fish, and then have the gall to take a picture of yourself, smiling no less, holding it. There are slightly more serious criminal acts out there.......

well said backlash,iv'e seen numerous pics. of not-so bright fish on here, thats to be expected this late in the year, but thats no reason to bash someone or their method of catching them,i'll bet the bashers have all caught less than bright fish and yet they still told all their buddys that they caught x-amount of fish this day or that day,we still have to get them to bite, chrome or not.

Is the griping about spent steelhead really happening? Not every fish that John, Skrimmy and I caught were exactly chrome--nobody bashed us! Get off his case.

Backlash--you can fish with me anytime

PS We've all caught spawners at times and been damn glad to get 'em too. I catch a #20 spawner you can bet your fanny I am going to post a picture of it!

Okay Ty what can I learn from a picture of a spent steelhead?
I've caught plenty of spent steelhead but never felt the need to take a picture of them.
I'm not flamming either! I just want to know what you meant by that.
After a while it all becomes a blur of dead fish pictures anyway. The ones that stand out for me at least are the big ones like the ones Scott Amerman posted last week or a big steelhead like the one Johnny B got last year.
The others are just another picture of a dead fish.
I take plenty of pics of the fish I catch but unless it's a remarkable or memorable fish, like some ones first, then it's pretty unexciting to me and I won't post it.
So if someone takes a picture of their fish and posts it on ifish then that's fine and it's their right to do it but just don't expect the rest of us to get all excited is all.

Thank you Stew.

Look..I never said anything deragatory about anyone's fish catching skills. You've been having a great season (but you're not the only one ). All I'm sayin' is that those of us that catch lots of fish, and those of us that have caught more fish than you could ever dream of, wouldn't have our pics posted here holding spawners.

Again..post if you wish...but I'm sure I'm not the only one here that won't be impressed. I was just pretty well dis-appointed to see spawners when your thread title said " CHROME"

Guess we all have different definitions of "CHROMERS".

Sorry.

Have a nice day!

Fishing is a state of mind... IF u bash photo's of fish I suspect that u may need to lighten u and relax. That is what u can learn froma spawned out steelhead jumping ten times in a row..... Even spawners can teach you where the fish will lay the next time you visit that hole. Every time you hook a fish, you should be learning something.

You call those dark fish? This is a dark fish.

Was this fish any easier to catch than a chromer? NO
Was this the best fight I've had from a hatchery fish this year? YES
Am I any less proud of this fish than a bright fish? NO
I don't see what the big deal is.. a fish is a fish no matter how bright it may be. Keep the pictures coming TY most of us love to see them.

Ty,

Know the feeling here bud...I was chastised during the holidays for having too much fun as well...

IMHO you are doing us all a favor by bonking every hatchery metalhead that you do...I have read your posts and I enjoy them very much...I also respect your education in fisheries...

Your one of the few who come on here and spread their wisdom and also tell an awesome story to go along with it...I relate to your awesome stories and I have learned by some of your tips & techniques...

I too enjoy posting fish pictures and telling a story and hopfully a tip or 2...No matter the situation, others will take an opposing side and your demeaner through all of this tells me your a person of good character and one who enjoys sharing experience with others...

That my friend is a person I can relate to...

Keep up the awesome reports

No, Stew, I'm not. But you don't have to be Ty to be tired of the negativity and "know-it-all-better-than-everyone-else-I-do-everything-right" that is becoming so prevalent around here lately.

I'm my own spokesman and I say it's a drag.

Nothing personal with you Shane, just with the "air" around recently.
