The best of luck I've had calling is in June, July, and August. Summer! Get out in a wide open field and let them have it with a fawn in distress, and throw in some howls and barks here and there. If you can sit the edge or corner of timber, and look out to a field, that would be good too.. However, they might come from behind, and then you might be SOL. They're smart so cover up, camo, and use some kind of scent blocking spray. In the winter the Cotton tail distress, works too, if there are rabbits around the area. Winter nights though, an hour or so before dark, do a couple barks, and howls, you'd be surprised what kind of answers back you'll get.. If one repsonds, bark. Challenge him. They'll come in to howls, and barks like no other if they're in that "mood". Goodluck! Let us know how it goes!
