Default clam care, what to do?

So this weekend is the big clam dig. Well, I'm a clamming virgin so I need a little help here. Got my clam gun, my bucket. Now what? How do I care for them? How long will they last in the fridge? Can you freeze them? And how do you like to cook them? Not as exciting as being a tuna virgin but I do love clams. Thanks for your help folks.

Try this link. If you are married and want to stay that way, I suggest you NOT gut your clams on the carpet as shown in the clam-cleaning section.

And don't forget to buy shells for your clam gun. Clammo?

Good luck!

the fine art of cleaning those critters.

Bernie,
I am leaving the office at noon today to come down clamming. Sounds like you are on a Tuna hunt for tomorrow AM. I will be after the frisky bi-valves tonight and tomorrow evening. Give me a call at the beach and will be happy to share alot of information on your thread. Am in the book if you don't have my number in Seaview.
Knock'em dead on the Tuna. Be careful cooking the razors so you don't end up with any new blisters

Question from a salty lurker. With butter/steamer clams you dont have to clean them. Why do you clean razor's?

Foxer, when you get your first razor clam and see how much bigger their necks are, you will understand why they clean all that "s-tuff" out of them.
