TA Meeting Schedule, Fall 2003
Alrighty then. Back by popular demand - TA Meetings!
It looks like an equal number of people have a conflict either the 3rd or 10th of October... and ID Painter can make it in Nov So how about we do this?
October 3 (assuming we're not all out on big blue for one last hurrah)
November 7 (if this works for IDP - we love to accommodate our out of state friends )
Then we'll go on hiatus for the holidays and reconvene sometime in late January or early Feb.
Santana's
3655 Southwest Hall Boulevard
Beaverton, OR 97005
(503) 643-0488
5pm-ish or whenever you get there.
Don't worry, we'll play the vid at both meetings... heck, we'll play it at every meeting if need be.
RSVP if you are attending the October meeting and IDP - if the date in Nov works for you. Yes, your wife can dress up... if she wears a TUNA! costume.
Lucky Lucy, er, I mean Lucky Luke can model his new red dress and slippers.

I'll be at the meeting in November if it's the 7th. Work schedule wouldn't permit me to make it to the Oct meeting.

Cool. I need to schedule some work up in Sandy either late Oct. or early Nov. I might be able to schedule it around the Nov. meeting (don't want to wait till we have a TA meeting further south).
Are there any 'decent' motels within staggering distance of Santana's?

Hoggemin, I've got your Sabre/Penn Int. 50TW combo to give back. Thanks, it worked great on the Sword adventure.
Ragnar, that 2 speed reel was a gift, right? Nah, I'll get it back to you at the same gig, thanks for the loaner. You're in right? We can get you to do Sean Connery reeling in a TUNA! while we play Skeins tuna standup comedy video with the sound turned down. They have Karaoke there and it should work ok. Hope they got rid of the nasty buzzing sound in the speakers by now.

Re: TA Meeting Schedule, Fall 2003
The time is whenever you get there. Some of us start showing up as early as 4:30 or 5pm. 5:30 or 6 is when the majority show and we have a few trickle in around 7-7:30 (those who have long drives) We usually wrap up around 9, but it isn't unusual for folks to linger until 9:30 or 10.

Heh, nothing I like more than a good tuna lie, but I'm afraid that the weather
forcast is looking too good for Saturday for me to take a day off'n fishin' to
be partyin'. Ya'll have a real good time, hear?
Maybe I'll make the November drunken brawl ... uh, TUNA! meeting ...

Re: TA Meeting Schedule, Fall 2003
Looks like Pilar and I might bail on this meeting, too... if the forecast and water temps hold. He's trying to talk me into taking one last trip... 'course, he doesn't get out of the cast for another 1.5 weeks. (by the way, he started it... I was content to ignore the forecast, but he emailed me the forecast for Saturday this morning... so don't blame me for putting my mouth on the weather )

edsr - You bet! I will buy you the beverage of your choice! (okay, Mel, you too, but you have to promise NOT to wear the burgee)
Royalfish - Sounds like you can't make it in October. November either? :depressed: We'll definitely start up again in late Jan/early Feb... unless everyone insists that December isn't too busy for a meeting.

I cannot get out of my fatherly responsibilities friday night. Wifes previous engagments outweigh my social activities. So it looks like the November meeting for me. Have fun and talk tuna. Swordfish are highly overrated.

Bernie - I'm sorry to hear it! You're a good man to take care of the little bundle of joy and give the wife a break. We'll see you in Nov. And don't worry, we won't view the tape, or tell stories, or have any fun until you can join us.
Okay, well that last sentence was a lie  , but the rest is true!

Re: TA Meeting Schedule, Fall 2003
Hah hah hah!!!! Little bundle of joy? Jen they are 4, 11, and 14!!! They are a joy though and I love them a bunch.
The wife deserves recreation time as much as I do. She and her buds have lots of get togethers and overnighters at the beach. They are all about scrapbooking and photography. The wife is actually very good with a camera and you should see some of her black and white work. Amazing.
So this time of year I don't mind a bit. Now if she asked during the last two weeks of august and the 1st week of september....FORGET IT DEAR!!! I BE A FISH'IN!! Same thing kind of goes on in mid April, 1st week of May. I'M FISH'IN!!!!

Bernie - Load the kids up and take them to the TA meeting. Feed them dinner there and have a good time.
I doubt they will hear anything they havent heard from you   Well except maybe some successful fishing stories
I told my wife I would take her out to dinner friday night, and we were taking the kids. I cant help it if it just happens to be the same place the Salty Dogs are meeting by some quinkydink. I think she might figure it out when I load the shrimp pots, rod and tuna lures in the back of the rig before we go

Lynda - yeah, we'll be there. We're fishing with Kamloops Saturday out of CR so we'll have to make it an early evening. If we were fishing out of Depoe, it would be a different story... I think we'd have to cancel out of the TA meeting.
Yeah Bernie, bring the kids. Corrirod brings his! It's good for 'em... educational and all.
Hey, anyone got a copy of that vid yet?

Never been to Santana's so I did not know if it was kid friendly or not. Enlighten me as to the atmosphere sans BOE being there. What's a kid to do at Santanas?
Ps, still not sure it will work though. the "wee one" is a bit under the weather as of last night.

Re: TA Meeting Schedule, Fall 2003
Bernie- it's just a restraunt with a bar when we are there. The waitress wears clothes and everything (Hehe - thank goodness). I don't think I've ever seen anyone else there until 9 when it converts to a disco dance place, complete with the rotating crystal ball and some pretty shady looking folks (along with some really BIG guys in uniform at the door). We'll be wound down by then.
Until that time it's just a bunch of Salty Dogs. You probably better not bring the kids in that case huh?

Disco! I love Disco!! We'll see how junior feels friday. Last night he was a pretty miserable little guy. Man I hate to see little kids suffer. Only good thing about it is he is in neutral. Usually he is full race non-stop. Kind of a mini-vacation for mom. He's a couch potato right now. :depressed: That is unusual.

Re: TA Meeting Schedule, Fall 2003
Bernie - your cordoroy bell bottoms and wide collared shirt will fit right in.
Big room, with tables and chairs around the dance floor. Kind of a low budget place, maybe you should wear your best
Soda, chips and salsa for the kids, and a corona for the old man.

And LOTS of room for the little squirt to run around. There's a bike shop next door that the older kids might want to peruse. I think the exotic bird store is still there, too. That's fun to poke around in.

Re: TA Meeting Schedule, Fall 2003
I'm planning on going to the Oct 3rd meeting.
However, after getting up at 2:30 am driving to Garibaldi, fishing all day, driving back to Beaverton, I'll be pretty wiped out. I won't need any beer to wind down. Maybe espresso shots though.

Re: TA Meeting Schedule, Fall 2003
I'll be on the other side of my eyelids waiting for my alarm clock to go off at 3:30am, that's after my 5 hour drive down from Seattle to Warrenton Friday afternoon. Than I need to get fuel in Astoria. Sounds familiar Huh Keta.
Sign me up for November when this all comes to an end.

Re: TA Meeting Schedule, Fall 2003
I'm like Keta, busy with an unfilled deer tag for the Northside Unit. Since I had to get a second freezer this year I might just as well fill it up.

Re: TA Meeting Schedule, Fall 2003
Okay, the little guy is feeling a lot better today. No voice yet and temp is gone. We will see how he is doing tomorrow. If he is better we will be there. If not.....I'll be watching JAG.
Kamloops, you are a diehard brother. Good luck to ya's all Saturday. I'll expect a report. I'll be staying near Portland this weekend searching for freshwater relation to sharks of the prehistoric realm. That is if junior is up to snuff from his cool. Otherwise I'll be cleaning up my garage and reorganizing fishing gear.
Tom you will be happy to know I have it all figured out how to run gear, store fish off of Cindy Lou. I figure if I plan it right Cindy Lou can hold 35 tuna. Of course she would be about 3 inches out of the water but we could make it back on a flat day.
BTW Tom, You, Keta and myself have a score to settle together with Mel next year. Pretty cocky that Miss B. Haven one he is. We gotta save face. Listening to 9 months of him flapping his jaw will be sweet when we come home with the joy of waxing his hind end.

Re: TA Meeting Schedule, Fall 2003
Jen,
Please add heaping handfulls of goof balls, sarcasm and attitude. Shaken. Not stirred. Pour over ice. Serve while he's still awake. And what you have is one zesty Cup-A-Ragnar.
Count me in. Sorry for the short notice. I've been working out in the field shocking fish. Keep a look out for me on Oregon field guide soon. It will probably be brief.
It will be nice to see everyone again.
This is going to be nice.
Please inform John that I'll do my best on the Skien Kareoke. Sounds like I may have to edit a few things if there will be kids there. Perhaps I should study-up on my "Who's Line Is It Anyway?" See how they do things.
I'm sure Skien would appreciate it. Yes, I'll be gentle Skien. Don't worry.
Does anyone need a ride from Vancouver? I'll be leaving sometime around 4:00-4:30pm on Friday afternoon. Call me at (360)573-0202 ext 121=work or (360)907-2978=cell
See you there!

Re: TA Meeting Schedule, Fall 2003
As of this morning I will not be able to attend. Junior got worse overnight and we are taking him to the doctor this morning. Would have like to have been there. Maybe November. Sorry. Have a great time.

Re: TA Meeting Schedule, Fall 2003
It was a warm summer day not too long ago, I took the wife and kids to the beach to play in the sand. While the wife is basking in the sun and the kids are digging holes in the sand with some clam shells they found, I stand looking towards the beach where some very attractive young women in bikinis are frolicking in the surf. They are splashing each other creating a scene so anybody in the area would notice their hot little bodies. One of them loses her top for a few seconds and tries to act like she is embarrassed and it wasn’t planned. I find myself lost in thought, maybe more of a dreaming daze as I look at these girls playing in the water. I have no idea how long I was looking towards the water but I must have zoned out in dream longer than I remember because my wife walks up behind me and thumps me on the mellon and asked me what I was looking at. With the thump on the head I mentally rejoin the beach and realize I was just awoke from a dream, kind of like one of those dreams where you are falling and just before you hit ground you are awoke in a heavy sweat. As I look at my wife and wipe the sweat from my brow I realize my dream was disrupted just before I landing a tuna. While my wife thought I was looking at the young girls, I was really looking over the horizon wondering if there were tuna out there. Will this TA meeting start putting me on recovery to my very sick symptoms?
When will the Tuna get here next year, its gonna be a long winter.

Re: TA Meeting Schedule, Fall 2003
I'm with ya Roy on the tuna gig deal. It will be a long time until tuna season erupts full bore. But for me, unlike you, there is springer season to keep me entertain.  Sorry, could'nt resist.
