Default Sandy island (Kalama)

Im itchin for some early springer fishing. But due to the temporary closure of Willow grove launch, im going out of Kalama. Im just curious if anyone can tell me a good spot around Sand Is. Top, bottom, Oregon side or Wa. Thanks in advance. Feel free to PM me if you like.

I'll be at one of the wing jetties just upriver - Oregon side............no need to run all the way to Sand Island - you're putting the boat in in good water.

When the fish are in a lot of boats fish the WA side of the island along its entire length. There is usually a hogline of sorts at the very lower end. The jetty at the upperend of the island is also good, but can get crowded. Back in the old days we use to troll the OR side of the island, but that was before the crowds. Now a few boats anchor in there and make it difficult to troll the water we use to fish. We caught fish trolling there in water that was 3' to 5' deep.
