Swordboat Sampler (pics)
Here's some pics from the Swordboat.
I'm still recovering from the trip, still on the boat about half the time, especially when I shower or walk into a closed space like a closet, etc. My mind is still out there as well, hanging on, watching waves, hearing, feeling, focused. I'm more rested now, but still unable to relax. I can't imagine Popeye back at work trying to concentrate on mundane paperwork after the three days he just spent.
Anyway, here's some of my pics. The others will have lots to share as well. Go Team Swordfish!
Final Preparations
The Quest
Focus
Wingman (Blitz)
Skein's Tuna! (35lbs)
Pilar (see Doc, the foot is elevated)
Lines out at 136 miles
Sunrise at 96 miles
Hope this post doesn't clog up everyone's computer, but since you all sweated us out, I couldn't help but share.
Skein

Re: Swordboat Sampler (pics)
Thanks for the preliminary report, and the pics. I have to get a bib, the drool on my keyboard makes the keys slippery.
Peace, Tom

Re: Swordboat Sampler (pics)
happybrew - I know someone shot a pic of Corrirod holding a squid on Saturday during the carkathon... ewwwww! those things are just too gross for words. I wouldn't even touch one (until it was cleaned and cooked  ) But they are very interesting creatures... physiologically speaking, that is.

Re: Swordboat Sampler (pics)
What were the sea conditions when the "Lines out at 136 miles" photo was taken? That's a big swell out behind you.

Re: Swordboat Sampler (pics)
Dang Popeye  - I hate it when the forecasters get it right. Looks like the period wasn't TOO bad though. They can sure get a LOT steeper than that.
That sunrise alone would have been worth the trip for me. That would be something to wake up to. Oh....wait.... you were awake the whole time anyway! Not sure I could sleep out in that either.

Re: Swordboat Sampler (pics)
This whole Team Swordfish thing has been fabulous. I could not wait to check in and find out what was happening each day.
I have made the offshore run between Astoria and Port Angeles several times on a 36' sailboat (under motor power most of the time). It is an awesome sea, and we were typically only about 5 miles offshore. I can try to imagine the feeling of being on a moderate sea and out of sight of land, but I expect you have to be there. I'm sure I can't begin to imagine what it feels like to have beasties around the boat, in the dark, a long, long way from shore.
You guys rock!!
TC

Re: Swordboat Sampler (pics)
Is there a description of the vessel somewhere? I would be interested in the specs/brand etc. Thanks in advance. I'm glad everyone had a good time and returned safely.
