Default 15 hp envinrude mid 80's

my neighbor just bought a 15 h.p evinrude. it ran fine the first day he used it and then started running like %$*$ after that. he replaced the plugs and it didn't seem to help. at an idle it will only run on one cyl but once it revs up the dead cyl will start to fire. it will also keep dying at an idle. think it might have a reed problem? it's just my guess. the coils seem to check out good. any help would be appreciated.
thanks, infinity

Just curious as to why you posted this on the Salty Dogs board. Was that on accident or on purpose? I think you might get a few more replies on the Life in General Board or the Main Board. Good luck

These engines seem to have a weakness for coils going out. one for each cylinder. I have replaced 3 so far this year for customers. Harveys Marine has good stock of parts.
Good Luck.
