Default Smack down with the Marsh boats

Great day, great scenery, great friends .... and lots of geese and ducks falling from the sky!!!!!!!

Swans in close

Honker Knocker and Colin

OK where are the ducks John?

Safe and sane in the slough!

Nothing better than a monster Honker to use as a hand puppet to torment your hunting buddies.

The beautiful NW, we are so lucky to live here, never take it for granted, get out there and enjoy it!

The ducks and geese never knew we were there.

Discussing 3 guys shooting simultaniously on a decoying greenhead with 3 1/2" #3 ... can a duck fall any deader than that last one?

OOPS, I think I forgot to smile on this one ... ?

I commend your use of "marsh" when referring to your boats.

This is a sweet, sweet time to be a ducker. Good to see guys taking advantage of this gift of weather!

I thought you'd notice Geoff

Yes it was a stellar day. We didn't leave with limits but it was a memorable day. The swans made several passes one that I missed getting on film that they had their gear down and were landing 10 feet in front of us. INCREDIBLE BEING THAT CLOSE TO LANDING SWANS! We had tweety birds hopping around us within a few feet and killdear and snipe all around the whole time, within inches at times when they'd fly in front of your face. The mallards we shot were northern birds, honestly the first I've seen this year. We also got a drake buffle head in full plumage. The purples and greens in the head feathers are spectacular. Sorry no pics of our harvest.

That last photo looks like about ten minutes from frostbite.

Gotta give credit where it's due--you are some tough hombres to sit through that kinda weather. You more than deserve any birds you harvested. Wish I could talk more of my hunting buddies to go through that, cuz often as not that is the best time to get 'em!

That honker I got was my biggest yet. 12.13 lbs from a spot you couldn't have paid me to hunt up until last week. I saw a few mallards and geese in there the day before and since it looked like an incredibly safe place for when the storm hit, I thought I'd give it a try. It worked out. I may never hunt there again but under these conditions it worked out. I left Bucky at home, the ice is too unpredictable.

The checkin lady said it was one of the best goose days of the whole year and we were one of the last in.

Crazy weather sure makes the birds do crazy things. You just got to figure out how to safely get out there and do your thing.
