Another loss of innocence
Many thanks to Kamloops and crew for getting me my first NW TUNA! Kamloops,Keta, Miss B Havin, Reel in, and Catch & Eat were the best company you ask for. It was foggy to start, butpretty flat. Once we got across the bar, thing got increasingly lumpy. Had a hard time drifting for rock fish and halibut. It was time for TUNA! What could be better that catching fish with a great bunch of guys and watch the DUCKS WIN!! Thanks again to Lee and Mel for the carkin' lesson. Can't wait until next year. I'm hooked. Dr.Cark at work
Thanks again guys. I'll crew with you guys anytime!
Sunny K

Re: Another loss of innocence
We got 12 bottom lurkers before the bite just DIED at high slack (9:30). Drift was pretty severe and when Kamloops held us still the fish on the screen just wouldn't bite. If we tried to drift it was blowing so hard we were flat lining, trolling for bottoms.
We gave up finally and started trolling out for Tuna. Just picked up the one. Another boat with us started out for Tuna earlier and got 4.
We ran across a big current break right after we pulled the gear and started home. Kelp, sticks garbage and birds in the line at about 20 miles off the CR bouy. Talked to the other boat after we got back (his radio wasn't working real well outside) and he ran across the same break earlier in the day and saw jumpers.
We both apparently gave up to soon. THe fish were inside us the whole time.

Re: Another loss of innocence
Sunny, congrats on the tuna! Glad you got into one out there. Was a tough day too for just about any kind of fishing. So tough I secretly chummed the water on your side of the boat. Pretty sure that helped alot. On the other side of the boat I threw out a banana. You noticed Mel did not get the tuna.
Kamloops, thank you again for the trip. Always a pleasure to fish on the Minaki. Wish I could have been better company but that ocean really got me Saturday. Have'nt actually barfed since I was 14 out there. Again thanks for the invite. I'll take ya fishing in my dingy sometime.
Good to fish with you too Mel and nice try yelling "fish on" in my ear while I was sleeping.

Yes, the Good Lord was protecting me from that National Enquirer photographer. Don't think I would have ever lived that one down. Just love it when technology fails.

Sleeping Beauty. I felt more Oscar the Grouch. I did sleep pretty good though. Felt good to sleep in Sunday too.
